Phelps Media Group Welcomes New Client Palm City Polo Club

Release Date: 2015-02-23

Wellington, FL – February 23, 2015 — Phelps Media Group International welcomes new client Palm City Polo Club, an exciting and expansive new polo facility in Boynton Beach, just minutes from Wellington. The facility was designed and constructed by owner and trainer Joey Casey, widely recognized as one of the most experienced American players in the sport.

Casey’s vision for Palm City Polo is to be inclusive and welcoming to anyone interested in polo, whether they want to compete, take lessons, or just watch a game. “Our goal is to promote an environment where players from novice to high-goal levels of competition can play in a relaxed atmosphere with the amenities of a full-service training facility,” he said.

The 35-acre facility, which will be completed in the spring, is already operational (more than 50 games have been played since its Dec. 15 opening). It offers basic riding clinics, polo lessons and practice, and matches on weekdays and weekends.

Collaborating with Warren Prescott of JW Turf, Casey was able to introduce a new type of grass that has never been used on any other polo field in the world. Players who have had the opportunity to play on this field have raved about the footing and resilience. Palm City’s plans call for more polo fields, a 100-foot round pen and a hitting cage. Players and guests will have use of the new polo lounge and patio area that is under construction.

Drawing from his nearly 30 years of experience as a professional polo player and former manager of the Royal Palm Polo Club in Boca Raton, Casey brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his new club.  Working alongside him is Mike Harris, the polo school’s chief instructor. Harris has an extensive polo background and is also a United States Polo Association A-rated umpire. He has officiated at some of polo's most prestigious tournaments and teaches all levels of riders at Palm City Polo.

“We are delighted to welcome Palm City Polo Club as a client,” said Mason Phelps, president of Phelps Media Group International. “Joey Casey is one of the most respected and accomplished polo players in the sport, and we look forward to helping him share his new club and his passion for polo with the community.”

Casey is a third-generation polo player and is also internationally known as one of the top breeders and trainers who has produced many of the of top polo ponies that have played in the sport.

A former 7-goaler, he has played in numerous U.S. Open Polo Championships. His career highlights include: six-time winner of the Sunshine League Championship (26 goal); four-time winner of the International Gold Cup Championship (26 goal); three-time winner of the C.V. Whitney Cup (26 goal), and the USPA Gold Cup (26 goal) and the Westchester Cup (26 goal). He twice won the Sunshine League Championship (20 goal) and won the 3 de Febrero Handicap (0-40) Open in Argentina.

Other prestigious tournaments he won include: the Pacific Coast Open (20 goal); the Canadian Open (20 goal), and the International Cup (18 goal). He is an 11-time winner of the Hartman League Championship (12-14 goal) and numerous Kaycolee Tournament Championships (10 goal).

Palm City Polo Club will feature tournament polo (4-6 goal and 8-10 goal leagues) from September to June.
