Messenger Hill Farm’s Freddie Vazquez to Serve as Nations Cup Chef d’Équipe for Team Puerto Rico

Written by: Carrie Wirth
Client: Messenger Hill Farm
Release Date: 2015-02-27

Wellington, Florida – February 27, 2015 – Freddie Vazquez will act as chef d’équipe for his native Puerto Rico in show jumping at the Nations Cup presented by Hollow Creek Farm for young, junior and child riders at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida.

Vazquez and his wife Jodi are the owners and head trainers of Messenger Hill Farm, a full-service hunter/jumper facility in the Chicago area. Vazquez began riding in Puerto Rico at the age of 9 and moved to the U.S. when he was 15.

He represented his native Puerto Rico aboard his stallion, Zippo Z, at the XXII Central American and Caribbean Games in Veracruz, Mexico, and is a top-notch professional competitor in both the hunter and jumper arenas at the country’s most prestigious shows.

Vazquez is known for his ability to bring his young students along from their early pony showing experience through their junior years and on to the amateurs. Most of Messenger Hill Farm’s current group of junior riders has been with them since their pony years. Along with Andre Dignelli, Messenger Hill Farm has enjoyed being an integral part of client and superstar equitation rider Caitlin Boyle’s rise to the top. Now they have a new group of pony riders both on the road and coming up at the barn at home.

“At WEF I'll go from doing the grand prix to the pony island for five hours,” Vazquez said. “And I'm excited about it! I look forward to developing those kids. I'm really excited about the talent.”
