The CP National Horse Show Welcomes Artist Jan Lukens

Written by: Abner Pedraza
Client: National Horse Show
Release Date: 2015-03-18

Lexington, KY - March 18, 2015  - The CP National Horse Show announced today that noted equestrian artist Jan Lukens will create paintings of the 2014 National Horse Show champions and class winners for an art exhibition to be held during the 2015 CP National Horse Show.

The Taylor Harris Club at the 2015 National Horse Show will display several paintings from the 'Big Horse' series by Lukens. Lukens believes the most relevant new paintings would be of the horses that won NHS championships and classes in 2014. The NHS will provide Lukens with action reference photos, but please contact Lukens if you would like to either have him photograph your horse or provide him with your own photographs as reference for a painting.
Owners of horses that Lukens paints for the show will have first right of refusal, but will be under no obligation to purchase, as any unsold paintings will be delivered to Lukens' national network of galleries and art consultants. You may view Lukens' 'Big Horse' series and find his contact information on his website,
Lukens has painted equestrian portraits of Olympic gold medalists Rodrigo Pessoa, Chris Kappler, and Joe Fargis, as well as legendary riders Anne Kursinski, Margie Engle, Aaron Vale, Marilyn Little, Louise Serio, Geoff Teall, Sandy Farrell, Jenifer Alfano, Liza Towell, and Lillie Keenan. His equine portraits include Gem Twist, Madison, and All The Gold.
His art has been displayed in the Smithsonian Institution and the International Museum of the Horse, and is in the permanent collection of the National Sporting Library & Museum, the US Equestrian Federation, and the US Hunter Jumper Association.
Two of Lukens' 'Big Horse" series were sold to Ralph Lauren in 2014, and in January, McCourt Global of Beverly Hills, CA, partners with the Longines Global Champion Tour, commissioned a painting from the series. Several of the 'Big Horse' paintings will be included in the grand opening of the new gallery space for Mason Fine Art next month in Atlanta.

"The CP National Horse Show is honored to add the talented artist, Jan Lukens to the lineup during this year's event," said Mason Phelps, Jr. the President of the National Horse Show Foundation. "This is a very unique opportunity to have your NHS champion or class winner painted on canvas or exhibited in some of the top galleries in the nation."
