Asbury, NJ - July 16, 2015 – The Ridge at Riverview Summer Spectacular announced today that the prize list for the long anticipated two-week “AA” event is available online at their website www.theridgefarm.com. The Summer Spectacular I & II returns to the Ridge at Riverview in Asbury, New Jersey, from August 5-9 and with the second week running August 14-16, 2015.

The Summer Spectacular I features the $50,000 Asbury Grand Prix, where riders will have an opportunity to vie for the lion’s share of the earnings. The premier USEF hunter/level-four jumper competition will take place from August 5-9, 2015 complete with full divisions for hunters, jumper and equitation exhibitors.

With a wide array of hunter/jumper classes held on the beautiful grass derby field, The Summer Spectacular I is the perfect show to prepare for the upcoming Hampton Classic.

The Summer Spectacular I Horse Show offers over $100,000 in prize money during the first week of hunter and jumper competition alone. The highlight of the jumper agenda is the $50,000 Asbury Grand Prix and the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby. The show will also feature the $5,000 Ridge Welcome Stake. The Ridge at Riverview is pleased to announce that Mauricio Garcia Ballesteros will be designing the courses for the first week of competition, he is well-known in the industry and has worked along Leopoldo Palacios designing and building courses around the world.

This year, the jumper divisions include the popular Itty Bitty Mini Prix for aspiring jumpers, to be held alongside the Level 0 and Level 1 Jumpers, as well as the other Mini Prix classes in the recently updated Asbury Ring. The Young Jumper divisions include the 6 Year Old and the 7-Year-Old divisions. The 1.10m, 1.20m, 1.30m, 1.35m and 1.40m classes are offering prizes from $500 to $1,000. The $500 Low Junior/Amateur Owner Jumper and $600 High Junior/Amateur-Owner Jumper divisions round out the prize list.

Special jumper classes include the Low Children’s/Adult Jumper Classic, the M&S/NAL/NJPHA/WIHS High Children’s Classic, the M&S/NAL/NJPHA/WIHS High Adult Classic, the $1,500 M&S/NAL Low Junior/Amateur Classic, the $1,500 M&S/NAL High Junior/Amateur Classic and the $2,000 Jersey Jumper Derby.

Featured hunter classes include the M&S/WIHS/NAL Children’s Hunter Classic and the M&S/WIHS/NAL Adult Hunter Classic.

The hunter derby classes will feature some of the most competitive horse and rider combinations in the region as they compete for the top honors in the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby where riders will contend for the win on the all-grass Grand Prix Field.

The Summer Spectacular I Horse Show also offers a variety of equitation classes for people of all experience and age levels. These classes include the Pessoa USEF Hunter Seat Medal, the ASPCA Maclay Horsemanship, the WIHS Equitation series, the Platinum Performance USEF Show Jumping Talent Search, the Ariat Adult Medal, the Taylor Harris Insurances Services Medal, the M&S Adult Medal, USEF Pony Medal, WIHS Pony Medal, the NJPHA Children’s Equitation/NJHSA Junior Bronze Medal, the NJPHA Mini Medal and the NJHSA Mini Maclay.

The summer action will continue with the Summer Spectacular II Horse Show, which runs from August 14 - 16.

The jumper highlight is the $10,000 Ridge at Riverview Grand Prix, with other featured classes being the $2,500 Futures Grand Prix, the $2,000 Open Jumpers Welcome, the $1,000 M&S/NAL/WIHS High Child Classic, the $1,000 M&S/NAL/WIHS NJPHA High Adult Classic, the $1,500 Low Junior/Amateur Classic and the $1,000 1.30m Jumpers. This will be the first year that the Summer Spectacular II will offer the Teeny Tiny Jumper division, including a mini prix with jumps under 2 feet for up and coming riders.

Hunter divisions feature children’s and adult classes, with several Marshall and Sterling Classics. The show also features several USHJA Outreach Hunter Derby Challenges of varying fence heights, with new classes added to the schedule for the USHJA Outreach Program. The competition will culminate with the USHJA Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum Hunter Derby Challenge classes, with fence heights from 2’3”-3’3”, giving all levels of hunter riders a chance to test their skills on the pristine derby field.

The equitation ring includes the M&S Children’s Pony Medal/NJPHA Pony Equitation, NJPHA Children’s Medal/NJHSA Junior Bronze Medal, the NJHSA Mini Medal, M&S Children’s Equitation, M&S Low Adult Medal/NJPHA Low Adult Equitation, M&S Adult Medal and three USHJA Outreach Medals.

Along with the hunter/jumper classes, the summer series makes every show unique with special awards. These presentations include the Hunter Derby Groom’s Award, Jumper Groom’s Award, Jumper Style Award, Best Junior Rider on a Horse/Pony and Best Adult Amateur Rider, Child/Adult Jumper Style Award, Junior/Amateur Jumper Style Award, and the Professional Jumper Style Award.

FROM the East heading WEST on ROUTE 78: Route 78 WEST to EXIT 11, Route 173/West Portal. Off the exit, follow signs to stay on ROUTE 173 WEST; Continue for 2 miles and exit off Route 173 bearing right onto BRUNSWICK AVE. Make the right onto ASBURY/W PORTAL ROAD. Go 1/4 mile, make the first left onto VALLEY STATION ROAD. Cross over the green bridge (Valley Station turns into WOLVERTON Road). The entrance to The Ridge Farm @ Riverview is the first GRAVEL driveway on the left.

FROM the West (PA) heading EAST on ROUTE 78 Route 78 EAST to EXIT 6. This is the exit for the. Weigh Station. Go to the end of the ramp and make a LEFT onto BLOOMSBURY ROAD. Continue about 2 ½ miles (road becomes Asbury Bloomsbury Road) and make a RIGHT onto WOLVERTON ROAD. The Ridge Farm @ Riverview is the first GRAVEL driveway on the right.
