Equine Odyssey Sponsors Great Lakes Equestrian Festival

Written by: Emily Meehan
Client: Morrissey Management Group (MMG)
Release Date: 2015-07-24

Traverse City, MI – July 23, 2015 - The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival the four-week circuit debut has been well-received by attendees, exhibitors and sponsors. Stadium, Inc., the reputable management company responsible for the new series, would like to welcome to Dana Wille of the up-and-coming, full-service equestrian facility, Equine Odyssey to their family of sponsors.

Wille, a 16-year-old who aspires to be a trainer, has had recent success at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival atop the equitation horse Full Count, owned by Shaunnah Anderson. The two topped the leader boards in both the hunter and jumper phases of the Washington International Horse Show Equitation classes, landing them the championship title of the division during Weeks III and IV. The duo also rode away with fourth place in the Pessoa U.S. Hunt Seat Medal out of a field of 17, which she claimed was great practice for the finals in October.

“I’ve always wanted to be a trainer and have students of my own,” Wille said. “With Equine Odyssey, our eventual end goal is for it to turn into a full service business for buying, training and selling show horses.”

“I’m infatuated with Greek mythology, so I figured I would incorporate it into the name,” she said. “Odyssey means ‘adventure,’ and I view every new horse as a new adventure, so it seemed like the perfect name.”

Wille attributes much of her success to her trainer Polly Howard-Coberley of Fox Meadow Farms in Temperance, Michigan, and is grateful for her continual support throughout her equestrian journey thus far.

The young rider has been attending the shows held at Flintfields Horse Park just outside Traverse City, Michigan since 2008, and only had great things to say about the all-new Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

“I really love what Stadium Jumping, Inc., has done with the grounds here; the rings are so beautiful! The management hasn’t missed a beat this year, and have made many improvements to the show,” Wille said.

When not in the show ring, Wille said she can be found riding her Jet Ski around Torch Lake, one of the many popular tourist attractions in the picturesque Traverse City area surrounding the show grounds.

“We’re really happy with our turnout of sponsors this year, and would like to thank Equine Odyssey for showing their support,” said Matt Morrissey of Stadium Jumping, Inc. “Each sponsor helps us to continue our tradition of providing top quality equestrian events such as this year’s Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.”
