Asbury, New Jersey – October 6, 2015 – The Ridge at Riverview is gearing up to host one of its pinnacle events in only two days, the 2015 Asbury Classic, at its impressive facility in picturesque Asbury, New Jersey, conveniently situated only one hour from New York City and an hour from Philadelphia, PA.

Week 1 of The Asbury Classic will get underway Oct. 8-11 and Week 2 will kick off on Oct. 15-18. In addition to fantastic prize money, exceptional hospitality, and distinct awards, this autumn horse show features both traditional, rated hunter/jumper divisions as well as unique classes that appeal to riders of all levels.

The Futures Grand Prix, Mini-Prix, $2,000 Open Jumper Welcome Class, $2,000 Jersey Jumper Derby and hunter derbies, along with the weekly $15,000 Grand Prix give riders an opportunity to showcase their talents at a stunning venue with state-of-the-art footing, three world-class rings and an all-new 150 x 300-foot all-weather sand arena.

Nona Garson, Olympian and renowned hunter/jumper trainer, owns and operates The Ridge at Riverview, and has developed a new incentive program for the Grand Prix held each week -- the purse will increase to $20,000 if 30 or more horses jump in the grand prix competition.

The first week of the 2015 Asbury Classic will feature an exciting Costume Gambler’s Choice, and the following week a Costume Jumper Relay will have the crowd cheering for their favorite team. Children and their canine friends can take part in a costume lead-line class and a “Doggie Parade” in the second week.

Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes in each class.

Riders in the Children’s Pony Hunters, Children’s/Adult Hunters, and Low Children’s/Adult Hunter divisions will have a chance to show on the breathtaking derby field, and there will be classics for those seeking points for Marshall and Sterling Finals and NJPHA Finals. The rider who comes out on top of the Children's/Adult Hunter Classic will be awarded with the Lisa Berman Trophy.

Some of the presentations will be the Hunter Derby Groom’s Award, Jumper Groom’s Award, Jumper Style Award, Best Child Rider on a Horse/Pony and Best Adult Rider. During the second week, The Rebecca L'Heureux Perpetual Challenge Trophy will be awarded to the grand prix winner and The Gary Zook Perpetual Trophy will be given to the champion of the Hunter Derby. The rider’s tent is the go-to place in between classes for all exhibitors wanting unparalleled hospitality and a chance to relax in a friendly environment.

Giving back to the community is another crucial part of the Asbury Classic, which is honored to name Riding With Heart Hunterdon Equine Assisted Recreation and Therapy, their official show partner. The non-profit charity in nearby Pittstown, New Jersey, offers equine-assisted therapy activities, such as riding or grooming, to adults and children with physical, cognitive, and emotional disabilities.

Based on the amount of entries in each week’s charity class, The Ridge at Riverview will make a donation to Riding With Heart.

This beautiful state-of-the-art facility offers a fully array of classes, generous prize money, and tough competition for hunters, jumpers, and equitation riders. The Ridge at Riverview is only an hour from Philadelphia, PA, and an hour from New York City, which makes the show convenient for competitors in the northern United States.

The Ridge at Riverview is pleased to have the Holiday Inn Clinton as their official host hotel and competitors can receive a special rate if they mention “The Ridge” when making their reservations. Rooms are limited so make sure you book your rooms early!

After the Asbury Classic, The Ridge at Riverview will host a 2-day clinic with Olympian Nona Garson on October 24-25th. All levels of hunter, jumper and equitation riders are welcome and will be divided into three categories: Low (Fences 2’6’’ and under, ponies welcome), Intermediate (Fences about 3’), and Advanced (Fences 3’6’’ and above). More information and registration forms are available on the website.
