WestWind Surfaces' Gladstone Footing Performs Despite Deluge of Rain

Wellington, FL - Oct. 12, 2015 - The 2015 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals East held at Hamilton Farm, the headquarters of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation at Gladstone, New Jersey wrapped up Oct. 4. Talented riders competed for the top spot in the annual prestigious competition. But the top riders were not the only topic of conversation during the event. The weather up and down the Eastern Seaboard had been effected by a super storm that inundated the area with rain. Rain drenched the East Coast from New England to Florida, thanks to a cold, Nor'easter storm and the effects of Hurricane Joaquin.

"When I drove in Wednesday morning, the first thing I did after all the rain was walk into the ring and I was extremely surprised and happy by the conditions," said show manager David Distler.

Other shows that took place on the East Coast during the same time frame all experienced downtime due to wet footing and rain, and while the warm-up class on Friday did have to be cancelled due to the impending storm, the WestWind Surfaces footing kept conditions ideal for the Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals East on Saturday and Sunday.

"It has taken a huge weight off my shoulders because the riders and trainers are extremely pleased with how [the footing] turned out," Distler said. "The footing was as good or better than just about any place I've been to in the world and it saved the event this year."

The event was not interrupted by weather and the WestWind Surfaces' footing performed as founder Dan Carr had intended. Young talented rider, Tori Colvin, of Loxahatchee, Florida, trained by Andre Dignelli and the Heritage Farm team, took home the championship honors.

Dignelli was also pleased with the footing with the challenging weather conditions, "The footing was excellent outdoors all days," he shared.

Built in 1913, Hamilton Farm is a landmark and a symbol of equestrian sport in the United States. It hosts USEF events such as the Dressage National Championships, the Talent Search East and various horse shows, dressage and driving events. The Federation also hosts a number of training clinics for developing riders in high performance disciplines.

"The footing and drainage system that Dan installed at the USET Foundation's headquarters earlier this year has proven to be world class," said USET Foundation Executive Director Bonnie Jenkins. "During the Platinum Performance/USEF Talent Search Finals East, it held up under very challenging weather conditions and allowed the riders and trainers to compete with great confidence. We have had dressage competitions, show jumping competitions and numerous high level training sessions this year on this footing and all the riders, clinicians and trainers have all expressed high praise for the quality of footing. We are thrilled with the footing Dan produced for us."

The team at WestWind Surfaces couldn't be more thrilled with the outcome at this prestigious competition at a venue that is so revered in the equestrian community. The company has produced over 2,000 arenas over the years and with each project, they strive to delight their clients with excellence.

"The performance of our footing is what makes us so proud to be in this business," said Carr. "We get very excited to have a part in the success of such an important event."
