Cherry Knoll Farm Offspring Claim Top Honors at the National Western Stock Show

Written by: Jenna Sudol
Client: Cherry Knoll Farm
Release Date: 2016-01-21

Denver, Colorado – January 21, 2016 – The 2016 National Western Stock Show (NWSS), known by many as the “Super Bowl” of Livestock Competitions, kicked off on Tuesday, January 5. Ambitious livestock exhibitors from across the nation flocked to Denver, Colorado to compete in this 16-day show, among them was Angus breed powerhouse, Cherry Knoll Farm.

During the fiercely competitive Open Angus Show, Alexis Wright of Philippi, West Virginia, led Cherry Knoll Elsa 1510 to the top of the Early Winter Heifer Calf division, and was named Grand Champion.

Wright said, “My week at the NWSS was awesome! I loved being with my stock show family and winning my division with "Kate" topped off the week. I can't thank Margaret [Duprey], Bob [Duprey], Tim [Fitzgerald] and the crew of Cherry Knoll Farm for everything they do for my brother and me. I can't wait to see what the future holds for Kate and me.”

Wright was not the only Cherry Knoll Farm entry to impress the judges in the Open Angus Show. In Angus Heifers class 8H, Cherry Knoll Farm prospects secured both first and second. Cherry Knoll Farm’s own Cherry Knoll Erica 1544 received the top ribbon, while Cherry Knoll LVS Lady 1545 owned and exhibited by Calvin Levisay, took second. Claiming top honors in a single class illustrated the consistency and dominance of Cherry Knoll Farm offspring.

In addition, Levisay secured awards in the Late Heifer Calves class 9 and 11 at the Junior Breeding Heifers Show with Cherry Knoll LVS Lady 1545 and Cherry Knoll LVS Lady 1546.

Another Cherry Knoll prospect that dominated the Angus Heifer divisions at the Junior Breeding Heifer competition was Kathryn Coleman’s Cherry Knoll Rosebud 1456. Coleman earned awards among stiff competition in Heifer class 25 and Early Heifer Calves class 13.

Cherry Knoll Farm progeny graced the leaderboard in a majority of the classes offered at the Open Angus Show as well as the Junior Breeding Heifers Show demonstrating the operations consistent and superior breeding standards.
