Wellington, Fla - Feb. 16, 2016 - Suzan Oakley DVM, Diplomate ACVSMR, Diplomate ABVP (Equine), Cert ISELP, one of the founders of Wellington Equine Sports Medicine, has added another impressive board certification to her resume. The candidate must have completed advanced training and continuing education in equine sports medicine and rehabilitation, have at least 10 years' experience in equine sports medicine practice, multiple professional recommendations and be the author of a publication or have significant teaching and lecturing experience in the field of equine sports medicine. When those requirements are met, the candidate is eligible for the two-day board examinations. With her successful completion of the board examinations, Dr Oakley joins the elite group of diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Oakley is a past president of the Florida Association of Equine Practitioners (FAEP) and she is one of only a handful of North American equine veterinarians certified by the International Society of Equine Locomotor Pathology (ISELP), a highly respected international organization that focuses on imaging and lameness in the equine athlete. She has lectured nationally on equine sports medicine topics and has been a frequent instructor on ultrasound imaging as it pertains to equine sports medicine for various organizations, including ISELP in the U.S. and Europe

"It is a great honor to earn this certification," said Dr. Oakley's colleague and practice partner, Anne Moretta, V.M.D., M.S. "Dr. Oakley has earned this distinction through her experience in practice, teaching and lecturing and from her determination to be on the leading edge of equine sports medicine."
