Experience IEA National Finals and Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Back-to-Back!

Written by: Emily Riden
Client: Interscholastic Equestrian Association
Release Date: 2016-02-17

Lexington, KY – Feb. 17, 2016 – For equestrians planning a trip to the ‘Horse Capital of the World,’ mark your calendars and book your travel for April 20 to May 1, 2016! For these two back-to-back weeks, the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky will host the Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) National Finals Horse Show and Exposition, followed by the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event.

Riders and spectators planning to attend this year’s CCI4* Rolex Three-Day Event, to be held April 28-May 1, will not want to miss this year’s IEA National Finals, which combines the Hunt Seat and Western Finals for the first time in four years.

From April 20-24 in the Horse Park’s Alltech Arena, more than an estimated 600 qualified riders will compete, both as teams and individuals, for National Championship titles in over fences, under saddle, horsemanship and reining classes.

Spectator admission to watch the 2016 IEA National Finals Horse Show and attend the exposition is included with admittance into the Horse Park, and spectators are welcome at all events. To view a full competition schedule and plan your visit, click here

Founded in 2002, the IEA was organized to promote and improve the quality of equestrian competition and instruction available to middle and secondary school students. Today, the IEA boasts more than 12,500 members, and that number continues to increase each year.

The young riders qualifying to compete at the IEA National Finals will have first won within their respective regions and then zones throughout the United States, representing the best of the best from among the large IEA membership.

“Since our founding, we’ve seen many IEA riders go on to pursue full-time careers within the equestrian industry. These riders competing at the National Finals represent the bright future of our sport, and the finals are a great opportunity for spectators to come out to watch and support them,” said Roxane Lawrence, co-founder/executive director of the IEA.

In addition to enjoying any of the five days of competition, spectators are also invited to attend an educational equestrian speaker symposium, to be held Thursday through Sunday, April 21-24.
