Challenge of the Americas Auction Offers Quality Items to Support Breast Cancer Research

Written by: Annan Hepner
Client: Challenge of the Americas http://www.challengeoftheamericas.com/
Release Date: 2016-02-25

Wellington, FL – February 25, 2016 – Relying on the generosity of dedicated donors, the silent and live auction at the Challenge of the Americas (COTA) help raise significant funds for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation through their partner Play for P.I.N.K. (Preventing, Immediate Diagnosis, New Technology, Knowledge). Cathy Tarantini is leading the charge for the silent auction, now in its second year and featuring an impressive selection of top-of-the-line items. An array of auction items at different pricing levels means there is something for everyone to enjoy while joining the fight against breast cancer.

“There are a number of different people who contribute, from upper level trainers who offer lessons to those who donate physical items like a four-wheeler,” Tarantini said. “We have beautiful local artwork from Marika Mlinar and Ivana Mlinar and we have five paintings that are inspired by different breeds of Spanish horses by Peter Muller Peter who had recent exhibits in the Palm Beach area. There are a lot of fun activities to bid on, such as trail riding through the Everglades, sailing in Biscayne Bay, skydiving, and more!”

The silent auction items will be displayed for bidding at the International Polo Club (IPC) Palm Beach after the equestrian entertainment, and the Challenge organizers hope the silent auction will continue to draw a crowd of generous donors. A brief live auction follows while attendees are enjoying dessert prior to dancing.

“Each year we are trying to do a little bit more and raise more money,” Tarantini said. “The event has grown to incredible proportions in support of such a wonderful cause.”

There are many quality additions to this year's auction and Tarantini is also bringing back some of the most popular offerings from last year.

“Last year one of the items that got a great deal of financial support for the event was Tami Hoag’s donation,” Tarantini said. “Tami is a New York Times bestseller mystery writer, but also happens to be an avid equestrian. Similarly to last year we are auctioning off a character spot in her next book."

Marcy Zeltzer, a member of the silent auction committee, facilitated the donation of a week's stay at a lovely beach house in Key West. The house offers two bedrooms and two bathrooms along with a pool and is located within walking distance of the beach. Another destination getaway auction item is a weekend at the Wheatleigh, a stunning five-star resort in the Berkshire mountains in Massachusetts.

“In the 1800s and early 1900s the elite from Boston and New York built their Berkshire cottages with ballrooms and 25 rooms,” Tarantini said. “Now turned into a beautiful hotel, the property backs up to Tanglewood, where the Boston Symphony Orchestra plays in the summer.”

Those interested in lending a hand to support breast cancer research are encouraged to continue to donate items by contacting Cathy Tarantini at (518) 424-9660 or cathy@hsmn.com.
