Jennifer Alfano and SBS Farms Top Leaderboards in Lone Star State

Written by: Jenna Sudol
Client: SBS Farms, Ltd.
Release Date: 2016-03-29

Houston, TX – March 29, 2016 – SBS Farm’s professional rider and trainer, Jennifer Alfano, seems to turn heads and capture tri-colors wherever she travels. This week was no different. Alfano and team left a victorious wake at week one of the 71st Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. Over the course of four days, Alfano piloted the SBS string of talent to numerous hunter division and both national and international derby placings.

Coming off of an impressive second place finish with Maggie May at Gulf Coast Sunshine Classic’s Week Five $77,700 USHJA International Hunter Derby in Gulfport, Mississippi, the derby queen was back at it, taking on the $15,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and $30,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby.

Alfano cruised SBS Farm’s mount, The Exchange, to a second place finish in the $15,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby amongst a field of 30 top-notch competitors. Alfano proceeded to coast her veteran mount, Candid; to a respectable fourth place finish in the derby, securing two of the top four finishes in the event for SBS Farms.

As for the $30,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, Alfano rode Miramar to the fifth place round one score and the third place round two mark, securing the fourth place finish overall.

In addition to her strong derby placings, Alfano cleaned up the hunter divisions. Receiving only firsts and seconds alongside her mount Candid, Alfano took home the champion honors in the Conformation Hunter division, yet the winning did not stop there. Alfano also guided Helen Lenahan’s, Girl Crush, to a clean sweep and the division championship in the Low Pre-Green Working Hunter division.

Alfano frequented the High Performance Hunter winner’s circle on her own Miramar, clinching the reserve championship. She also showed Billie Steffee’s Maggie May to top ribbons, yet fell shy of the tri-color for the first week.

Based out of Buffalo, New York, SBS Farms, Inc.'s Susie Schoellkopf and Jennifer Alfano run one of the foremost show hunter training operations in the country, and travel nationwide to compete in the most prestigious horse shows.

SBS Farms, Inc. continues the proud tradition of the Saddle and Bridle Club as one of the top show stables in the Northeast. Schoellkopf is also the executive director of the Buffalo Therapeutic Riding Center, which houses both the Buffalo Equestrian Center as well as SBS Farms, Inc.
