SBS Farms Remains Competitive in the Lone Star State for Spring Gathering Horse Show

Houston, Texas – April 12, 2016 – Jennifer Alfano and the team at SBS Farms are just coming off of a successful circuit at the Pin Oak Charity Horse show, and for their third week in the lone star state, the team maintained their winning streak, this time at the Spring Gathering Horse Show.

Jennifer Alfano, lead trainer and professional rider for SBS Farms, Inc. continued to dominate the derby events. In the $30,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, Alfano’s versatile skillset enabled her compete on three different horses. Her impressive rides on each mount landed them spots in top 11 placings. Alfano and Maggie May finished best in fifth place, followed by Miss Lucy in sixth, and she rode Miramar to an 11th place finish. Alfano also competed in the $10,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby on Candid, falling short of the win by a narrow margin, earning the third place finish.

In the High Performance Hunter divisions, Alfano took the reins again on Maggie May and Miramar. On Maggie May, owned by Billie Steffee, Alfano totaled pinnings with the first place, second, and two thirds. Alfano and Miramar also had successful rounds, finishing with top results.

In the stake classes, Alfano took to the ring with Savannah and Girl Crush, two horses with a recent, yet successful history. Girl Crush and Alfano earned the third place ribbons in the Texas Pre-Green Super Stake and the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive. Alfano also competed Savannah in those classes, besting the field of riders and finishing in the first place position in both.

Alfano also took Savannah and Girl Crush to pre-green hunter rings. In the Low Pre-Green Hunters Alfano rode Savannah to the first, second and two thirds. Alfano competed Girl Crush in the High Pre-Green Hunters, earning two firsts and the second. On seasoned mount, The Exchange, Alfano won the third place in the Performance 3’6” Hunter.

Other SBS Farms riders that had successful outcomes were Alicia Heberle and Kathy Chiaf. Heberle took to the jumper ring with horses Stillwater and Gunsmoke RHF. Heberle and her horses competed in the 1.10m Training Jumper II, earning the blue with Stillwater and the fourth place with Gunsmoke RHF.

Seasoned hunter rider, Katy Chiaf, owner of Stillwater, rode her second mount Sweetwater to excellent ribbons. Chiaf earned the third in the Ariat Adult National Medal, two second place ribbons in the Adult Amateur Hunter 50 and Over, and the third and fourth in the Performance 3’3’’ Hunter.
