In the culmination of an exciting month-long tournament, La Mission won the 2016 Palm City Spring Classic 6-Goal final 7-3.5 over Phelps Media on April 30 at Palm City Polo Club.

Joey Casey, owner of Palm City Polo, played on the winning team, along with Bob Kohn, Adam Koeffler and Misha Rodzianko. Rodzianko was the game high-scorer, with six field goals. Kohn contributed two goals for La Mission, which maintained a comfortable lead throughout the game, stretching its lead with two goals in the final chukker to take the win.

“It was a great way to end a fun and hotly contested tournament,” said Casey. “Palm City Polo appreciates everyone who participated and attended. The tournament represented what Palm City Polo is all about: exciting polo and inclusiveness for players and fans in a welcoming, safe and enjoyable atmosphere.”

The tournament attracted spectators and players from across the United States and Russia. Playing for Phelps Media in the final were Chip McKenney, Gwen Rizzo, Geoff Richards and Jeff Blake.“It is always a pleasure to play on a team with an outstanding pro like Jeff Blake. He is a consummate professional and a gentleman on and off the field,” said teammate Chip McKenney, CEO/CFO of Phelps Media Group. McKenney was the team’s high-scorer with three goals, one in each of the first three chukkers.

The event included four teams. Rounding out the roster were teams from Palm City Polo (Bruce Schreiber, Jacqui Casey, Gates Gridley and Carlos Baez) and Greenhill Winery (David Greenhill, Rebeka Pizana, Whitney Ross and John Gobin).

The spring 2016 polo season continues at Palm City Polo with two additional month-long tournaments. This month features the Palm City Trust Cup (May 6 - 29), followed by next month’s Palm City Turf Classic (June 3 - 26). Both offer 0-4 goal and 6-10 goal events.
Dates will be announced for the following tournaments at Palm City Polo: USPA Regional President’s Cup (4-8); USPA Association Cup (4-8); USPA Amateur Cup (0-4), and PTF Seniors Tournament.

He is a six-time winner of the Sunshine League Championship (26-goal); four-time winner of the International Gold Cup Championship (26-goal); three-time winner of the C.V. Whitney Cup (26-goal), and the USPA Gold Cup (26-goal) and the Westchester Cup (26-goal).
