Client: SBS Farms, Ltd.
Release Date: 2016-05-16

Aiken, SC – May 16, 2016 – SBS Farms, Inc. kicked off their summer show season during the first week of the Aiken Charity Horse Show and came back strong for the second week of competition. Jennifer Alfano and her strong team of horses and riders hail from Buffalo, New York, bringing their talent and seasoned mounts to the Aiken Charity Horse Show.

Alfano has been a long-time supporter of the USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Program, a program that was created in support of the development of younger, pre-green horses. The program is what brought Alfano to two of her top horses, Savannah and Girl Crush.

Girl Crush, owned by Helen Lenahan, competed with Alfano in the $1,000 USHJA Pre Green Incentive, earning a second place finish amongst a field of 14 riders. Alfano also competed Girl Crush in the Pre-Green 3’3 Hunters, earning the first, second, and third. The pair ended as the reserve champions for the class.

Savannah is owned by Sharon O’Neil, and has been a reliable mount for Alfano in the show ring throughout the winter and spring months. Alfano and Savannah competed in the Pre-Green 3’ Hunters, and received the second, third, and two fourths.

Alfano returned to the derby divisions with her seasoned mounts Miss Lucy and Maggie May. Competing in the $25,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, Alfano earned an eighth place with Maggie May and a twelfth place with Miss Lucy. In the Performance Working Hunter division, Alfano rode Sweetwater to the second and third place finishes.

Kathy Chiaf also rode Sweetwater and competed in the Adult Amateur 50+ division. Chiaf and Sweetwater received the first, second, third, and fourth, and came away with the championship for the division. Another championship for the SBS Farms team came from Barbara Britt and her horse Rio Viva. Britt and Rio Viva earned the first, second, third, and fourth in the Low Adult Hunter, closing out the show with the championship rosette.
