Traverse City, MI – June 2, 2016 – Thousands of exhibitors and spectators will travel to Traverse City, Michigan, this summer for the second year of the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival. For those flying into Traverse City, exhibitors should take advantage of the Cherry Capital Airport, located just minutes from downtown, hotels, and close to the show grounds.

Susan Wilcox-Olsen of the Cherry Capital Airport said, “The Cherry Capital Airport is home to what we refer to as a true pure Michigan airport. It really is positioned nicely to get visitors to all of Northern Michigan, which Northern Michigan is known for its pure Michigan environment from the culture and hub being Traverse City and Lake Michigan shoreline.”

The Cherry Capital Airport is an all-weather facility and is the fourth largest commercial airport in the state of Michigan. This year, the airport is seeing increased direct traffic from Chicago, Detroit, Newark, and LaGuardia for those coming from the east. International travelers can conveniently connect through the Atlanta airport and fly directly to Traverse City. For west coast travelers, there are direct flights available in major hubs like Denver and Minneapolis.

This year, the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival will get underway on July 6th, and the show will include the all-new August additions that will run August 10-28. The show will feature two weeks of FEI 2* classes and one week of FEI 3* classes.

Also new this year, the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival will boast its own concierge desk located right at the Cherry Capital Airport. Transportation or shuttle services can be arranged through Bay to Bay Shuttles, and horse show information can be obtained through ShowNet. The concierge can also provide hotel information, restaurant suggestions, and tickets for spectators. While the concierge can direct you to your lodging, because of the popularity of the Traverse City area during the summer, it is highly recommended that you book those reservations well in advance of your arrival in Michigan.

Wilcox-Olsen said, “As an entity that’s really critical to any special event and drawing in and caring for the transportation and getting your folks here in a timely manner, we were thrilled to be able to partner to push out as much information as we can about all the services. We know that the horse show events continue to grow in the number of weeks, and we are proud to align our air service with the weeks of the event.”

Other promising highlights for this year’s Great Lakes Equestrian Festival include WCHR week July 13-17, the $25,000 International Hunter Derby presented by the Gochman Family on July 30th, and the $25,000 U-25 Grand Prix presented by The Moyer Family on August 13th.

The team at Morrissey Management and Great Lakes Equestrian Festival are committed to providing top-notch customer service for those attending the show. With convenient location to Traverse City and assistance provided by the concierge, traveling through Capital Cherry airport is the ideal situation for those participating at the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival.

The Great Lakes Equestrian Festival is taking reservations for stabling, entries, VIP tables, camper spots, and vendor spaces.  All necessary forms for whatever your needs can be found on the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival website here.  Don’t get shut out of the remaining spots available, get in touch with office as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

“With the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival, from the airport perspective, we know that the summer season is just really key to integrate into all of those events. We also have our brand new app, all redesigned, and it tracks in real time where the flight is that you might be waiting on.” The all-new app is available for both Android and iPhone. To download the app, search “TVC” in the app store.

Traverse City, Michigan is a top tourist spot during the summer, and people will travel from around the country to enjoy the stunning scenery and family-friendly attractions. It is recommended that competitors and exhibitors act quickly to reserve flights, hotels or housing in order to take advantage of all that the city has to offer.
