Monmouth at the Team Welcomes Generous Sponsor Manhattan Saddlery

Written by: Kenneth Kraus
Client: Monmouth at the Team
Release Date: 2016-06-29

Gladstone, N.J. – June 28, 2016 –  Monmouth at the Team, formerly known as the Monmouth County Horse Show, is proud to welcome Manhattan Saddlery to its list of premiere sponsors, whose support is vital to the success of this exciting new endeavor. The show, scheduled for August 15th – 21st, will be held at historic Hamilton Farm, home of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation in Gladstone, New Jersey. Manhattan Saddlery will be the presenting sponsor of the shows’ $5,000 1.25m Welcome Jumper Classic, to be held on Friday, August 19th.

Manhattan Saddlery, featuring “Equestrian Style…from subway to saddle” is truly one of a kind. Located at 117 East 24th Street, it is the only equestrian tack shop in New York City. Their historic, split-level space is a shopping experience not to be missed, presenting a carefully selected assortment of modern English equestrian clothing, equipment and gifts in a warm atmosphere befitting their rich heritage. You can count on expert service from their friendly staff members who are equally insightful about horse sports, equestrian tradition and the latest equestrian fashion trends.

In addition to being an authority on equestrian fashion and tack, Manhattan Saddlery happily embraces their role as the hub for “all things horse” in New York City.

“We are deeply committed to upholding and exceeding the high standards set by Miller’s, the founding store at our location, and we take seriously our position as the only remaining authentic representative and purveyor of the equestrian lifestyle in New York City,” said Nicholas Tsang, owner of Manhattan Saddlery. “We are very pleased to be supporting Monmouth at the Team, which embodies our values of equestrian tradition and excellence, right here in our backyard. No other venue in our country has the level of tradition and prestige of the USET headquarters, and competing in the main ring at Hamilton Farm is a dream of so many riders. The synergy between the venue’s legacy and Manhattan Saddlery’s history is a great match and we are very excited to be a part of this unique event in its first year.”

“It is so exciting to be involved in such a brand new and exciting endeavor, yet one that still brings together some of the greatest traditions of our sport,” said Tucker Ericson, who along with Michael Dowling, owns and manages the new Monmouth at the Team, formerly the Monmouth County Horse Show, one of the longest, continuously run horse shows in the US. “From the early beginnings of our sport, through all of the years of history, the names Miller’s and Gladstone bring back so many great memories. This year, we’ll begin to make new memories for the younger generations of equestrian sport and we are delighted to have Manhattan Saddlery joining us on that journey.”

Manhattan Saddlery traces its history back to 1912 when it opened on 24th St. as Miller Harness Company. The stretch of 24th St. between Lexington and Park Avenues was not only home to Miller’s, but also to H. Kauffman & Sons, another venerable tack store which gave the area fame as the city’s premier equestrian destination for most of the 1900s. In 2002, June Tsang, a passionate equestrian and loyal Miller’s customer, took up the company reins and now her son, Nick, oversees the store’s legacy as Manhattan Saddlery.

Tsang added, “Few tack stores have a heritage as rich or long as Manhattan Saddlery so it made sense for us to align with Monmouth, one of the oldest horse shows in the country. Just like the Monmouth show, we pride ourselves on serving modern needs and sensibilities while continuing to honor the incredible history and amazing equestrians that have brought us such success over the decades. Monmouth is bringing together equestrians from all over the tri-state region, and our store is central in that geographic hub,” he said. “We love the opportunity to give back to that community with our support of the show, and to reinforce with locals that we are an equicenter resource for all things horse right in their midst. We wish good trips to everyone at the show and especially over the Manhattan Saddlery jump!”
Manhattan Saddlery is located at 117 E 24th Street in New York City. For more information on, visit their website at, contact them at and follow them on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.
Monmouth at the Team gets underway on August 15 and runs through August 21. This year’s debut at Gladstone will offer a full array of hunter, jumper and equitation classes, plus featured hunter derbies, mini prix and much more!
