Gladstone, NJ – August 17, 2016 – It was Kate Egan’s day Wednesday during the Monmouth at the Team Horse Show at the historic Hamilton Farm, home of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation. Tuesday was host to 2’6” divisions of both hunters and equitation, with riders showcasing their mounts and their skills in the arena.

Eleven-year-old Kate Egan took home first place in the Marshall & Sterling Children’s Medal aboard Eur-Honor, a 14-year-old KWPN gelding owned by Alexandra Walsh. It was the start to a winning day for Egan. “Going in I was a little nervous because there were a lot of people competing,” Egan said. “But when I got in I thought just ride and it will be fun.”

Egan did not let nerves get the best of her. She followed up her win with a reserve championship in the Pre-Children’s Hunter Horse Division. Of her mount Eur-Honor, she said, “He’s kind of an easy ride, he just needs a little leg sometimes, but not too much.” While she competes in both the hunters and the equitation Egan explained that she really enjoyed the equitation classes “because there are interesting courses and rollbacks.”

Second place in the Marshall & Sterling went to Alexandria Willard and her own Sahara a 14-year-old Hanoverian mare. Rounding out the top three was Emily Grace Ranieri and her own Dustinov, an 8-year-old KWPN gelding.

The afternoon continued with the Marshall and Sterling Adult Medal Class where the blue went to Cora Schiavone and her own Annabelle, an 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood mare.

Schiavone was thrilled with her ride and full of praise for her mare. “It was a lucky day,” she said. “I am just very happy how we both went. She’s the best, she’s an angel.”

Schiavone as also full of praise for the inaugural Monmouth at the Team horse show. “I love it, it is beautiful,” she said. “The footing is amazing. Everything about it is really nice.”

Lauren Fitzgerald and her own Starbucks took home second place, while Susan Taylor-Harris and Duly Noted were third.

Tuesday’s show concluded with a BBQ Picnic sponsored by CWD Sellier during the $1,500 Signature Spurs Bit O’ Straw Classic which awarded custom spurs to the to six finishers. Kate Egan brought home the win to finish out her fantastic day at the show. Egan sat in fourth place after the first round with a score of 78 and had a strong second round score of 84 to clinch the win. She used her first round to help her prepare for the final round where the top twelve were called back.

Second place in the classic went to Monica A. Oliver and Queen of Hearts a 14-year-old mare owned by Gabriella Savettiere. Rounding out the top three was Sophie Geslao and LSS Endeavor.
