It Was A Repeat For Farmer And Clarity At The Tampa Equestrian Festival

Written by: Violet Forbes

Release Date: 2008-03-26

Tampa, FL – March 26, 2008 – Clarity and Kelley Farmer started off the second week of competition, the Tampa Bay Classic at the Bob Thomas Equestrian Center, in the same manner that they did the first week, in the winners circle.

The stylish bay gelding, owned by Larry Glefke of Keswick, VA, stepped into the ring for the first Regular Conformation Hunter class and negotiated the eight elements on course with his usual elegance. The second class of the division was the same – a confident and perfectly jumped round. They were awarded top place in both classes, to make the competition for the division championship a game of catch up for the rest of the competitors.

Farmer and Clarity returned in the next division, Regular Working Hunter, and in the first class were again victorious to make it three for three. Mary Lisa Leffler aboard Sam Adams for owner Ashley Foster of Brookeville, MD, won the second class.

The Green Working Hunter division did not produce one star, but many. The first class over fences was won by True Fate with Amanda Steege in the irons for owner Jessica Lundgren of New York, NY.

“We came here from Ocala, where he was circuit champion,” said Steege. “He got last week off and he is so happy to be in a new place. I love to come here because the jumps are first rate and the footing is perfect.”

Owner Larry Glefke hopped aboard his Guess Again, and after a fourth place finish in the first class, accomplished without a right stirrup which snapped as he was cantering around the corner, he rebounded to place first with both stirrups intact in the second class.

Second place to Glefke over fences and the winner of the under saddle class was Mary Eufemia of St. Petersburg, FL, and the aptly named Unbelievable.

“I just love this guy,” said Eufemia. “He was bred by his owner, Dr. Paula Pell. He’s only six years old but he has been three foot Zone 4 champion and Green Working Hunter champion at Jacksonville. There are some nice horses in this division and I know he can hold his own.”

Competition in the Tampa Bay Classic CSI 3*-W continues until Sunday, March 30. The Tampa Equestrian Festival runs from March 19-April 6, 2008. The highlight class for hunters at the Tampa Equestrian Festival is the $20,000 ASG Software Solutions USHJA International Hunter Derby. The class will host a “Tradition, Tailgate, Top Hot, and Tails” party and will be held on Sunday, April 6, at 1 p.m. at Wrenwood Farm in Naples, FL.
