Lexington, KY - July 25, 2008 - The date of the $20,000 ASG Software Solutions/USHJA International Hunter Derby has been changed to take place on Friday evening, August 1, at 5:30 pm. The time and date for the event have been changed so that more competitors will be able to attend the class. The event will coincide with a complimentary dinner for all exhibitors in the Spectator Tent at the newly resurfaced Walnut Ring.
The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will be held July 30-August 2, 2008. The Kentucky Summer Classic will follow, beginning on Wednesday, August 6, and concluding on Sunday, August 10, 2008.
The Walnut Ring will serve as the feature ring during the Kentucky Summer Series, which begins next week. It will be the site of the $20,000 ASG Software Solutions/USHJA International Hunter Derby, seven Grand Prix classes which are part of the USEF Computer list (including 4 Hagyard Series events), and will serve as the main hunter competition arena for the 2008 USEF Pony Finals on August 13-17.
Otto Sport und Reitplatz GmbH, a German company which will provide the footing for the Main Stadium at the 2010 Alltech/FEI World Equestrian Games, has installed its synthetic footing system in the Walnut Ring and attached schooling area. The project was funded by the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation.
Kentucky Summer Series show manager Hugh Kincannon stated, We are thrilled to be able to offer our competitors the state of the art surface that Otto Sport has installed in the Walnut Ring. We are grateful that the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation has once again stepped up and made possible this significant improvement to the show facility.
Gifts to the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation from the private sector - both individual and corporate - help the park build and maintain show facilities, conduct special research initiatives, complete landscaping projects, and host special art exhibits such as Imperial China and All the Queen's Horses.
