Wellington, FL – April 3, 2009 – Stadium Jumping Inc.’s, founder and CEO, Eugene R. Mische, was honored at this year’s Palm Beach County Sports Commission Hall of Fame Induction Banquet and Annual Sports Awards. Mische was the recipient of the 2009 President’s Award, which recognizes representatives from Palm Beach County who have achieved excellence in sports. The banquet was held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach on March 29, 2009.

Mische was the second recipient in the brief history of the prestigious President’s Award, and he greatly deserves the honor. With an exceptional equestrian career that has spanned more than four decades, Mische has played a large role in developing the sport.

"I'm very flattered to accept this award," said Mische. "I'm just one spoke in the wheel producing equestrian events in Wellington. The county has been very supportive of our activities and I'm very grateful for all that they have done to assist us in our efforts."

Mische, who owns Imperial Farm in Palmetto, FL, first started training horses in Cleveland, OH, in the 1950s. He moved on to managing horse shows and planned the first winter show circuit. He also promoted the first outdoor grand prix held in the United States.

In 1973 Stadium Jumping, Inc. was formed, and it quickly became one of the world’s leading horse show production companies, through the leadership and vision of Eugene R. Mische. Mische ran the Sunshine Circuit in Florida as an alternative for competing outside in the winter months. The following year was the start of the Winter Equestrian Festival, which has grown into the largest equestrian competition in the U.S. Based in Wellington, FL, Palm Beach County recognizes the festival as one of Mische’s greatest accomplishments, as it brings in over 85,000 room nights and $57 million of economic impact for the county each year.

Mische also started the USET Festival of Champions, hosted the first two World Cup Finals in Baltimore and Tampa, managed the National Horse Show for six years in Florida, and he has produced the Olympic Trials for show jumping and dressage. Stadium Jumping, Inc., which Mische runs with his nephew Michael Morrissey, is the production company for such shows as the Charlotte Jumper Classic, the Tampa Equestrian Festival, the Budweiser American Invitational, the Lake Placid Horse Show, the New Albany Classic, and the American Gold Cup.

Mische has served as Chairman of both the American Grandprix Association and the National Horse Show Association, and has served on Boards for many organizations, including: the United States Equestrian Team, the Washington International Horse Show, the Show Jumping Hall of Fame, and Just World International.

At this year's United States Equestrian Federation’s Annual Meeting, Eugene R. Mische was presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award at the Pegasus Awards Ceremony.

Now, President of the Palm Beach County Sports Commission, Donald Dufresne, has announced Mische as the 2009 President's Award recipient.
Eugene R. Mische was honored along with the 2009 Palm Beach County Sports Hall of Fame Inductees and Annual Sports Award Finalists. The 2009 Inductees included: Ray Botel, Mark Calcavecchia, Daryl Ceravolo, Joey Ceravolo, Tom D'Angelo, Bill Davis, C.W. (Web) Pell, Charlie Persson, Jack Rhine and Howard Schnellenberger.
