Lexington, KY- May 4, 2009 - The Kentucky Spring Horse Shows begins Wednesday and run for two weeks. The Kentucky Spring Horse Show and the Kentucky Spring Classic, held at the beautiful Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, are scheduled for May 6-10 and May 13-17, 2009.

The shows are two of the nations finest and most popular spring equestrian competitions and feature a $30,000 and a $55,000 Grand Prix each week. The $55,000 Commonwealth Grand Prix, CSI 2* will be held Sunday, May 10, and the $55,000 Mary Rena Murphy Grand Prix, CSI 2* sponsored by Air 51 and Audi of Lexington will follow on Sunday, May 17. A $30,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic, CSI 2* will be held on Thursday of each week and are a part of the Hagyard Challenge Series.
The 2009 Hagyard Challenge Series, sponsored by the Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, consists of seven grand prix show jumping competitions. The series concludes in September at the Kentucky National Indoor Horse Show, and a $50,000 Leading Rider Bonus will be presented after the $50,000 CSI-W Lexington Grand Prix to the rider who accumulates the most points throughout the series.
The first week, the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, is a World Champion Hunter Rider recognized hunter competition. It will also feature the $15,000 ASG Software Solutions/USHJA Hunter Derby, being held at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, in the Walnut Arena. Both weeks of the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows will feature qualifying events for the Washington International Horse Show Championships and the North American League Finals.
Based at the famed Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, host of the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the Kentucky Spring Horse Shows offer equestrians a chance to compete at one of the finest facilities in the world. The shows utilize five different outdoor all-weather rings, plus a beautiful indoor facility. For show jumping, the new outdoor stadium offers one of the most spectacular and picturesque settings in the country.

Ring Dimensions/Specs:
The Stonelea Ring, Walnut Ring, Stonelea/Murphy Schooling Ring, and the Main Outdoor Stadium have new footing consisting of fine sand and synthetic fibre on pvc mats. The Murphy, Claiborne, Annex, and Indoor rings footing consists of a sand cushion on limestone base. The dimensions of the competition areas are as follows:
