Alltech National Horse Show Trophies Provided by L.V. Harkness & Co

Written by: Kenneth Kraus / PhelpsSports.com.
Client: National Horse Show http://www.nhs.org
Release Date: 2011-10-24

Lexington, KY - October 24, 2011 - - When the Alltech National Horse Show, 128th Edition, makes its much anticipated debut at the Kentucky Horse Park in just over a week's time, competitors will certainly take note of the gorgeous custom trophies that will accompany each victory and every championship, provided by L.V. Harkness, located in downtown Lexington. The show gets underway on November 2 and continues through November 6th, at the beautiful, new Alltech Arena.

With a passion for horses and a love of quality, L.V. Harkness & Co. proves itself as a leader in the trophy industry. With a first-class, on-site engraving team, L.V. Harkness produces incredibly appointed awards, trophies and prizes that are distinguished honors to numerous horse racing affiliations, golf tournaments and corporations.

In 2010, L.V. Harkness was selected to create the official trophies for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games. The trophies were inspired by the beauty of the horse and the spirit of the Bluegrass.

And now, L.V. Harkness is creating the official trophies for the Alltech National Horse Show, and is sure to create trophies as unique and graceful as the event itself.

In 1819, Lamon Vanderburg Harkness purchased Walnut Hall Stock Farm near Lexington, Kentucky. He transformed Walnut Hall into the foremost Standardbred breeding and racing establishment in the world with a keen eye and uncompromising taste. When he wasn't working to improve the standardbred breed or dabbling with a little enterprise called Standard Oil, he was sailing the seven seas on his yacht named Wakiva -- on the hunt for rare and fine accoutrement to adorn his homes.

Lamon Vanderburg Harkness's adventurous spirit lives on in his great-granddaughter, Meg Jewett --it's her turn at the helm. When she's not rescuing horses from slaughter, she travels the globe seeking the unusual "wants" and unique "must haves" that add so much spice to life. It is with great family pride that she shares these treasures at L.V. Harkness & Co. -- the luxury retail destination she owns, named after her great-grandfather, of course.

"It's an honor to be able to provide the trophies for one of the most prestigious events in the country. We are thrilled that they have chosen Lexington as their home," said Meg Jewett, the owner of L.V. Harkness & Co.

Nestled in downtown Lexington, L.V. Harkness & Co. indulges clients, gift-givers and brides-to-be worldwide with distinguished gifts, trophies, registries and awards. The storefront is a carefully curated blend of southern hospitality, traditional sensibilities and equestrian lifestyle. L.V. Harkness has an array of impressive brands including Meissen, Buccellati, Daum, Moser, Simon Pearce, Herend, Baccarat, and Grainger McKoy. In March of 2010 L.V. Harkness & Co. launched their lines of fine stationery and in-house printing services.

"The trophies that the craftsmen at L.V. Harkness have created for the Alltech National Horse Show are nothing short of spectacular," smiled Mason Phelps, Jr., the President of the National Horse Show Association. "We're glad to have them on board as we lift off in Lexington."

The Alltech National Horse Show, 128th Edition, will be held from November 2 - 6, 2011, at the beautiful, new Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

This year's show, designated CSI4*-W, will feature a complete schedule of 'AA'-rated hunter divisions, including the Pony Lane Farm High Performance Hunter section. Also on the agenda, a big money Open Jumper division highlighted by the Sasco Creek Farm $50,000 Welcome Speed Class, the $75,000 Double H Farms Thursday's Jump-Off class, the $60,000 Spy Coast Farm Faults Converted Speed class on Friday and of course, the $250,000 Alltech National Horse Show Grand Prix, an FEI World Cup qualifying event. $100,000 will be up for grabs for the Junior and Amateur Jumper divisions, including the $50,000 SJHOF Junior/Amateur Championships, sponsored by Sleepy P Ranch, Chansonette and Deeridge Farm. The final Sunday is highlighted by the signature event of the National Horse Show, the ASPCA Alfred B. Maclay Finals, presented by C.M. Hadfield's Saddlery.
