Charlotte Jacobs Claims WIHS Equitation Victory During WEF V

Release Date: 2012-02-14

Wellington, FL and East Aurora, NY – February 14, 2012 – Week V of the 2012 Winter Equestrian Festival proved to be very successful for junior rider Charlotte Jacobs of North Star Ventures, who earned top finishes in the jumpers and equitation divisions. Jacobs dominated the WIHS Equitation, winning both the hunter and jumper phases to take home the overall blue ribbon aboard Stallone VDL.

“I feel great about the WIHS win, especially because I’m relieved to earn Washington points so early in the year,” expressed Jacobs. “It was pretty gross out on Friday and we weren’t certain that we would show, so being a bit last minute, he handled it really well. I thought my jumper phase was great, and I assumed that our hunter phase would be a bit easier because he is naturally more of a hunter. I was pleased to do so well in both phases.”

Jacobs winning ways began on Thursday, when she produced the fastest clear effort in the $1,500 High Junior Jumper speed class with Karonda V. Schl’Hof CH. The pair tripped the timers at 61.00 seconds, almost three seconds faster than the runner up.

“The win in the High Juniors was really exciting,” said Jacobs. “It was only Karonda’s second week back showing since November, but she jumped right back into it, and it was fun because she is just a naturally quick horse.”

The week concluded on Sunday for Jacobs, who competed in the $15,000 Artisan Farms Young Riders Grand Prix. The four-part series focuses on the number of clear rounds, and the winner will earn the opportunity to compete on the European Young Riders Tour. Jacobs was the pathfinder during the first round riding Promised Land, owned by Candy Tribble and the Windsor Show Stables. The duo completed a second clear effort during the jump-off, and with a speedy time of 38.873 seconds, they garnered the third place award.

“The Young Rider Grand Prix was the focus of my week, and I was so proud of how Promised Land jumped,” commented Jacobs. “It was a bit cold, which he prefers, so he was a bit fresh and jumped great. That was definitely the big class that I was looking forward to the most.”

Jacobs will continue to compete at the Winter Equestrian Festival throughout the winter show season as she aims herself towards the North American Junior Young Rider Championships this summer, and the equitation finals this fall.
