Charlotte Jacobs Earns Position on United States Young Riders European Tour

Written by: Rebecca Walton
Client: North Star Ventures of East Aurora
Release Date: 2012-03-20

Wellington, FL and East Aurora, NY – March 20, 2012 – The 2012 Artisan Farms Young Rider Series came to a close yesterday following its final event, the $15,000 Artisan Farms Young Rider Grand Prix. Once again proving her consistency, Charlotte Jacobs piloted Promised Land to a second place finish, which eventually helped her tie for the second place position overall in the four-part series. As the highest placing American, Jacobs has now earned a position on the USEF Young Riders European Tour.

This year during the Series, Jacobs completed three clear rounds and two four-fault rounds with Promised Land, including the fastest four-fault effort during the final event, which earned the red ribbon. “It was a really long course,” explained Jacobs. “It was out here on the field, so everybody was expecting it to be long, but having the triple at the end of course caught a lot of people including myself. It was big and it was difficult, there were a lot of technical places, but I thought it was a good course overall.”

Jacobs continued, “I think having a format like this where you just have to keep jumping consecutive clear rounds is a good thing. I was more confident going into the Series this year. After last year, I knew I really wanted to do well again.”

In addition to her excellent performance during the Young Riders Grand Prix, Jacobs also won the $10,000 Griffis Group High Junior Jumper Classic during Week X of the Winter Equestrian Festival. She went first in the jump-off with her seasoned mount Karonda V. Schl’Hof CH, and they proved to be pathfinders with a clear effort, but a time of 38.16 would only hold up for fourth place. Jacobs then entered the ring with her second entry Kachina, and this time she could not be beat. Laying down a fault-free round in 36. 78, Jacobs and Kachina quickly jumped to the top of the leaderboard and eventually led the victory gallop.

“I went in on Karonda and I had to go first,” said Jacobs. “I thought I was quite fast but two riders beat me, so I knew I really needed to go fast with Kachina. I went in and I flew. She’s got such a big stride and she covers so much ground, she comes out of the turn and just shows you that distance. It was my first time in the High Junior Jumpers with her and she was really great!”

The success did not stop in the jumper ring for Jacobs, who also claimed the winning prize in the WIHS Equitation. After piloting Greer Hindle’s Freedom to a first place ribbon in the Hunter Phase and fourth place ribbon in the jumper phase, Jacobs was presented with the WIHS Equitation Overall victory.

“I am so pleased with all of my horses,” said Jacobs. “They have all performed wonderfully this season. I want to say a special thanks to Missy Clark, John Brennan and the entire North Run staff who make it all possible.”

Jacobs will continue showing for North Star Ventures during Week XI of the Winter Equestrian Festival, before setting her sights on Spruce Meadows and the Devon Horse Show.
