Release Date: 2012-04-05

Brewster, NY Ė April 5, 2012 Ė As Old Salem Farmís $25,000 New York Welcome Stake gets underway at noon on Friday, May 11, Georgina Bloomberg and Pegasus Therapeutic Riding will co-host their Grand Prix Luncheon in the tent overlooking the event. Sponsored in part by Ariat and WAG magazine, the luncheon will include a fashion showcase and a prime view of the Grand Prix.

Bloomberg first partnered with Pegasus in 2010 via her charitable venture, The Riderís Closet. Founded in 2006, Bloombergís program provides quality donated equestrian apparel to therapeutic riding programs, pony clubs, intercollegiate riding programs and riders who are in need. Within a few short years, The Riderís Closet expanded significantly. Bloomberg decided to move the charity from a home-based operation to nearby Pegasus Farm in Brewster, NY, where it could operate on a continuous basis with the help of Pegasus staff and volunteers.

Proceeds from the Grand Prix Luncheon will benefit both The Riderís Closet and Pegasus Therapeutic Riding. A PATH International Premier Accredited Center and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Pegasus offers equine-assisted activities and therapies at five chapters in New York and Connecticut. Students are challenged by a wide range of physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities, including multiple sclerosis, autism, ADD/ADHD, visual impairment, cerebral palsy and Down syndrome.

Tickets for the Grand Prix Luncheon are $100 per guest and can be purchased through Pegasus. Seating is limited, and guests are encouraged to RSVP by April 29 to Lyndsay McDonald at lmcdonald@pegasustr.org or (845) 669-8235 x104. The luncheon will take place from 12-2 p.m. at Old Salem Farm on the first Friday of their Spring Horse Shows.

Further information about the Grand Prix Luncheon, The Riderís Closet and Pegasusí programs is available at pegasustr.org.
