Date Change For Kentucky Summer Classic: July 31-August 5, 2012

Lexington, KY – May 11, 2012 – The 2012 Kentucky Summer Series will return this summer, and Kentucky Horse Shows LLC has extended the second week, the Kentucky Summer Classic to include Tuesday, July 31, 2012. The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will be held July 25-29, 2012 and will be followed by the Kentucky Summer Classic running from Tuesday, July 31- August 5, 2012. The USEF Pony Finals will return once again to the Kentucky Horse Park from August 7-12, 2012, and the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show will begin shortly after from August 15-19, 2012, once again featuring the $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals from August 17-18, 2012. Wrapping up the summer season will be the KHJA Horse Show from August 22-26, 2012.

The week preceding the Kentucky Summer Horse Show will feature the Adequan FEI North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, scheduled for July 17-22, 2012. This will be followed by the U.S. Junior Hunter Championship from July 24-25, running concurrently with the Kentucky Summer Horse Show.

All four weeks of the Kentucky Summer Series will feature the event’s most recent addition, the Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby Series with the Leading Rider Bonuses to be presented during the KHJA Horse Show. The Bluegrass Festival Horse Show will also be a WCHR Member event, where riders can earn points towards year-end awards. All four weeks will offer WIHS & NAL Classics for Children’s & Adult hunter and jumper riders, as well as the Show Jumping Hall of Fame High Jumper Classics.

In addition, all of the shows are part of the Hagyard Challenge Series, which allows riders to vie for points towards the coveted $50,000 Leading Rider Award. Following completion of the seven-class series, the rider with the most points will take home this illustrious honor in September at the Kentucky National Horse Show, also in Lexington.
