American Gold Cup Welcomes Luitpold Pharmaceuticals and Adequan as Young Jumper Sponsors

Written by: Kenneth Kraus
Client: Morrissey Management Group (MMG)
Release Date: 2012-08-29

North Salem NY – August 29, 2012 – The American Gold Cup is pleased to welcome Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the makers of Adequan® to this year’s event in North Salem, New York. The company joins the rebirth of the Gold Cup as the title sponsors of the Young Jumper Qualifying classes for 5 year-old, 6 year-old and 7/8 year-old Young Jumpers.

This year’s event has been designated an FEI CSI 4*-W, with Sunday American Gold being an East Coast League World Cup qualifying event for the 2012/2013 show jumping season.

With over $30 million dollars in improvements, Old Salem Farm, in New York’s Westchester County, is a premier equestrian venue, offering state-of-the-art facilities, surrounded by 120 gorgeous acres.

Luitpold Animal Health, based in Shirley, New York, markets Adequan® i.m., and Adequan® i.a. for horses. The company is committed to advancing the cause of equine health. Adequan® i.m.(polysulfated glycosaminoglycan) is the only FDA-approved treatment for degenerative joint disease (DJD) clinically proven to relieve the pain and symptoms of osteoarthritis and stimulate the natural “wear and repair” cycle within the joint.  This injectible treatment works by blocking the damaging enzymes as they form, relieving pain of inflammation, improving lubrication in the joints, and inhibiting degeneration before cartilage damage can continue.

Michael Morrissey, the President of Stadium Jumping, Inc., welcomed the addition of Adequan to the roster of this year’s sponsors at the American Gold Cup. “Our thanks to the folks at Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, the makers of Adequan for their kind and generous sponsorship of the Young Jumpers at this year’s American Gold Cup,” he said. “Adequan has been a major sponsor at some of the finest events in America. We are delighted to have a company of their reputation and quality on board with us here in North Salem.”

Luitpold Pharmaceuticals, Inc., the makers of Adequan®, is very excited to be part of the 2012 American Gold Cup.

“I had an opportunity to visit Old Salem this summer and get a tour of the facilities,” stated Allyn Mann, Director of the Animal Health Division at Luitpold.  “It was very clear to see the investment and commitment made to make this a top flight venue for hosting the American Gold Cup.”

“We wanted to be on the ground floor as a sponsor and showcase our brand, Adequan, in a synergistic way with the American Gold Cup,” Mann went on to say. “This is all about creating win-win relationships, and we look forward to partnering with this event and support its growth for years to come.”

A $25,000 Show Jumping Hall of Fame Classic will take center stage on Saturday and the day will also include $10,000 NAL Classics for Children, Adults and Low Junior/Amateurs.

Highlight events for Open Jumpers include the $7,500 Hallway Feed & KER Sport Horse Nutrition Open Jumpers on Wednesday, $10,000 1.45m Speed class on Thursday, the $50,000 American Gold Cup Qualifier on Friday, the $35,000 Double H Farm American Gold Cup Jumper Classic on Saturday and of course, Sunday’s main event, the 42nd edition of the $200,000 American Gold Cup.

This year’s event in September will be much more than an equestrian competition, but rather a family destination, offering the non-equestrian enthusiast a children’s fair, a petting zoo, live musical entertainment and a trade fair. The famous Just World International Horseless Horse Show, always an exciting attraction for children attending the event, will also be held.
