Charlotte Jacobs Wins European Youngster Cupís Speed Class at Pappas Amadeus Horse Show

Release Date: 2012-12-12

East Aurora, NY– December 12, 2012 – North Star Ventures’ Charlotte Jacobs proved to be the speed master with her talented mount Kachina during the European Youngster Cup’s speed class at the Pappas Amadeus Horse Show in Salzburg, Austria. The pair conquered the class by a full second and stood at attention while the National Anthem played in the Austrian arena. Jacobs was also successful the previous week, and earned solid placings during the Gucci Paris Masters in France with both Kachina and Promised Land.

On Saturday, December 8, 2012, all the stars aligned for Jacobs and Kachina as the talented pair raced to victory during the European Youngster Cup’s speed challenge. They managed to leave all the fences intact and dashed through the timers in 65.81 seconds, a full second ahead of the Irish rider who placed second.

“Kachina was awesome,” expressed Jacobs. “The person that was winning went really fast, and they had smaller speed horse, so I wasn’t sure if I would be able to catch his time on Kachina. I was really smart about my track though, and she has a huge stride. She was unbelievable all week, and it was so special when they played the National Anthem.”

Earlier in the week, Jacobs and Kachina were in top form for the European Youngster Cup Opening. Once again they were clear over the course, and this time they broke the beam at 56.39 seconds, just one second off the winning pace for the third place ribbon.

Jacobs also competed at the Gucci Paris Masters November 29 – December 2, 2012 with Kachina and Promised Land, owned by the Windsor Show Stables. This time it was Promised Land who proved to be the shining star, galloping to the third place honors in the Masters Grand Slam. They were right on the pace with their clear round, tripping the timers just 1/10th of a second slower than the winner. Kachina also produced a solid effort during the first day, completing a double clear effort that earned the eighth place honors.

“It was the first day and I was pretty nervous, but Promised Land always has my back,” explained Jacobs. “The top three were all very close, so it was a great class. Promised Land loved the atmosphere. The stands are always packed in Europe and the atmosphere is huge part of the shows.”

Now, Jacobs will travel to Wellington, Florida, for the prestigious Winter Equestrian Festival, where she will compete throughout the 12-week circuit with North Run. “The competition in Europe is very difficult,” admitted Jacobs. “I think it will up my game for Wellington and I will hopefully be ready to go this season. The experience was amazing. I have to thank John Brennan, Missy Clark, my parents, my grandparents and everyone that put it together.”
