GGT Footing Sponsors Inaugural Season of The Ridge at Wellington’s 1.40m Invitational Grand Prix Series

Wellington, FL – January 15, 2013 – The Ridge at Wellington is thrilled to have German Geo Textile Footing (GGT – Footing) join in sponsoring the inaugural season of The Ridge’s 1.40m Grand Prix Invitational Series.

“GGT – Footing always gives back to the equestrian community,” GGT sales manager, Cynthia Brewster-Keating said. “The equestrian community – the trainers, the Olympic level riders – they buy from GGT. We’re really active, and we support those who support us.”

GGT – Footing provides a number of textile additives that, when combined with high quality sand, produce equestrian riding surfaces for all disciplines. Arena footing blends are available for pleasure, dressage, jumpers and western riding.

The company will be presenting the Groom’s Award at the series finale $24,750 Grand Prix on March 23. The company has also generously donated the use of a GGT Footing Conditioner, a swivel drag and ring groomer that will help keep the ring in immaculate condition for the duration of the series. In addition, GGT is awarding the winners of the first two weeks’ classes with saddle pads and will give towels to all riders during these two classes.

Brewster-Keating has known The Ridge owners, George D’Ambrosio and Nona Garson, for some time so she jumped at the opportunity to support the new grand prix series.

“I give back to somebody like Nona or George because they’re very hard workers,” Brewster-Keating explained. “I also really like the idea of this series. I understand what it’s like, as a former trainer, to have a lot of horses showing so I like the idea that they have an open gate time. It’s great for the young, green horses. It’s a really neat concept.”

The series runs for ten more weeks, with nine more regular weekly classes held every Friday before the final grand prix series finale. The Friday classes run with the course open from 8 am to 4:30 pm, allowing riders to walk and jump the course at their own convenience. With $15,000 in prize money awarded each week, the first class attracted 36 rides, and The Ridge anticipates even more entries as the series gets rolling.

Additional sponsorships are still available starting at only $500 for Weekly Class Presenters. Other sponsorship categories include: $25,000 Finale, $15,000 Weekly Grand Prix, $2,000 Weekly Hospitality Tent, $3,500 Show Jump Sponsor for the series and a $750 Ring Banner for the series.
