East Freehold Park Contributes to the Success of the 110th Monmouth County Horse Show

Wellington, FL- August 24- The 110th Monmouth County Horse Show continued its reign as New Jersey’s premier horse show in 2005. The rains held off and allowed beautiful, sunny days for riders and spectators to enjoy the event at East Freehold Park in East Freehold, New Jersey. Proceeds from the show benefit the Jane H. and John Marshall Booker Cancer Center at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank, NJ.

Since 1998, the Ride for Riverview has raised over $500,000. Leo Conroy, co-manager of the Monmouth County Horse Show, stated, “It is through chairman Carol Stillwell’s efforts that we have been able to donate almost $100,000 from every horse show for the past five years.” There is no doubt that Carol Stillwell has helped the show become bigger and more popular. More importantly, she has helped others in their fight against cancer.”

All of the Monmouth County Horse Show sponsors were greatly appreciated by those who attended and competed in the event, and exhibitors enjoyed themselves at Friday night’s party thrown by U.S. Mortgage and the McGrath family. The Stillwell-Hansen Grand Prix concluded the horse show, and a special ceremony honoring Frank Chapot took place before the Grand Prix start. Paul Miller Saab of Edison, New Jersey and their Land Rover dealership of Woodbridge, NJ exhibited cars and were also a major sponsor of the show.

Paul Miller Automotive Dealerships are also principal sponsors of the United States Equestrian Team Foundation in Gladstone, New Jersey. Paul Miller owns eight franchises in the New Jersey area. General Manager Bill Hogan offered his thoughts on the week, “We look forward to this show every year. It’s a great time, and it’s for a good cause.”

Hogan understands the dedication it takes for riders to partake in such competitions; his 18 year old daughter rides and shows in the jumper division. She will be a freshman at Bridgewater College and plans on riding for their equestrian team.

The park provided an excellent and well thought out set-up, with sand and grass arenas and ample parking. The park was also designed with underground water lines and power connections, which allows flexibility and safety for those who attend.

The Monmouth County Horse Show has taken place at these grounds since the ‘70s, and those who run the park consider the show their largest summer undertaking. The competition requires a lot of work by the park rangers, who help prepare turfs, monitor building the show rings, and help the show run smoothly. They also contribute to the parking accommodations and overall security.

Laura Kirkpatrick, the grounds manager of East Freehold Park, reported, “I am very proud to help continue the tradition of the Monmouth County Horse Show here at East Freehold Park. I think the horse show is a great community event that helps attract spectators who would normally never see this area of New Jersey. The farming and park system in New Jersey has almost 14,000 acres of land, and I think it’s important for people to see the beautiful parts of this state.”

Thanks to the efforts of managers, sponsors, exhibitors, spectators, park system managers, and numerous volunteers, this year’s Monmouth County Horse Show and Ride for Riverview continued its tradition of success.
