New Hope LLC Celebrates Exceptional Two Weeks at Kentucky Spring Series

Written by: Kendall Bierer
Client: New Hope LLC
Release Date: 2013-05-18

Lexington, KY – May 17, 2013 – Christopher Payne and David Belford of New Hope LLC have a passion for finding young horses and developing them into hunter icons. Their first-class lineup of hunters have continued to blossom through the winter circuit, and their talent was apparent during the two weeks of the Kentucky Spring Series where they took home coveted championship honors throughout the hunter divisions.

It was only a few short months ago when professional rider Christopher Payne began exhibiting Truman, owned by Maypine Farm, and the partnership was evident from the start. The bay Westphalian gelding showed to the top of the Pre-Green 3’3” Hunter leader board during the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, as well as the Kentucky Spring Classic. He took home the championship for both weeks, and to top it off, he ranked first during the newly developed USHJA Pre-Green Incentive Stake. Truman is the perfect example of the Pre-Green Incentive Program horse, acting as an example of the time and dedication that goes into encouraging the development of pre-green horses.

Payne once again picked up the reins aboard Susan Moriconi’s Holden, riding him to a clean sweep of the Performance 3’3” Hunters during the Kentucky Spring Classic. His exceptional rounds over fences made him the clear champion of the division. Payne also rode Good Call, owned by Le Reve Farm, to the reserve championship just behind Holden with two second place ribbons over fences and the first place in the under saddle.

“We really strive to have great young hoses coming up and being developed,” David Belford stated. “Truman and Holden have all the qualities to be successful for the future!”

It was Stand Alone’s second horse show during the Kentucky Spring Series, and the young horse rose to the challenge and the chance to impress with Payne in the irons. They impressed the judges during the Pre-Green 3’ Hunter division, capturing the championship with two blues and a red over fences. Stand Alone is a new horse for owner Elizabeth Reed, and he has been excelling under the tutelage of New Hope LLC with each new experience in the show ring.

In the Performance 3’6” Hunters, Julie Holzberger’s Revealed stole the spotlight as he took two first place finishes, and the third and fourth place over fences during the Kentucky Spring Classic. Their flowing trips earned Revealed and Payne the reserve tricolor. Payne’ own Harlan also posted smooth rounds in the Stonelea Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park, but his second and third place finishes proved just shy of the championship honors; however, it was the perfect way to wrap up two weeks of phenomenal competition for the team at New Hope LLC.

Belford and Payne of New Hope LLC have trained some of the country's top show hunters and are continuously adding numerous accolades to their already impressive record. The team has consistently earned championships at the nation's top horse show, and their inspiring program has helped transform horses, as well as develop some of the sport's top riders and trainers.
