Brook Ledge Inc Returns as Official Ground Transport for 2013 Alltech National Horse Show

Written by: Kenneth Kraus
Client: National Horse Show
Release Date: 2013-06-16

Lexington, KY – June 17, 2013 – The Alltech National Horse Show, announced today that Brook Ledge Horse Transport has once again been named as the Official Ground Transport for the 2013 Alltech National Horse Show. This year’s event is scheduled for the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky on October 29 – November 3, 2013.

The Alltech National Horse Show, one of the (NARG) North American Riders Group’s top-rated American equestrian events and the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame’s Horse Show of the Year for the second year in a row, features top rated hunters, the ASPCA Maclay National Championship, plus world-class international, open, junior and amateur-owner jumpers competing for the biggest prize money on the United States indoor tour.  The highlight events include the $50,000 Alltech Puissance and Saturday night’s $250,000 Alltech Grand Prix. This year’s event also marks the second year for the exciting, high stepping American Saddlebreds.

“We want the riders, trainers and owners to feel the spirit of camaraderie,” said Andrea Gotwals Boone, of Brook Ledge Horse Transportation. “It’s a team effort to keep our industry going.  We rely on their business and we are delighted to support show jumping.  We want to see North American show jumping grow and this is a stepping stone to accomplish that.  It makes sense that we chose the Alltech National Horse Show, which is one of the top venues in North America, to show our support,” she said.

In addition to ground transportation, Brook Ledge will be providing a beautiful hospitality area for exhibitors and owners near the Alltech Arena. They will be serving up hot beverages such as coffee, hot chocolate and warm cider, plus offering cookies and chips and other refreshments.  “We want a special area where riders, trainers and owners can come to relax and refuel during the show and to demonstrate our gratitude for them.  Showing is stressful and can be chaotic,” Boone noted, and added, “We want a place where they know they can retreat to for a moment to relax and grab a bite to eat or a drink. It’s yet another example of our commitment to the industry.”

Brook Ledge Inc. is one of the largest horse transportation companies in North America. Operating out of its home base in Oley, PA, Brook Ledge Inc. maintains terminals on their own small farms in Lexington, KY and Ocala, FL as well as basing vans in New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Long Island NY, and South Florida. They are known for a long-standing tradition of the safest, quietest and most comfortable horse transportation available throughout the US and Canada.

The company is most proud of their professional drivers who come from a wide range of backgrounds, including trainers, farriers, professional competitive riders, grooms, horse farm managers and professional horse haulers. Brook Ledge drivers have extensive horse experience prior to their employment as a horse transporter with Brook Ledge. Most are current or past horse owners and many are second and third generation horse people, and as the company notes, ‘they have the horse is in their blood.’ They have 30 lead drivers currently employed with an average length of employment with Brook Ledge of 13 years.

“We are always improving our vans and staff to make sure we are not sitting on our laurels,” Boone noted. “We’ve been setting the industry standard for some time by making sure we are changing with the times and listening to our customers.  Our fleet and drivers consist of the best in the business and our customers have grown accustomed to expecting that from us.”

Brook Ledge Inc. operates an over the road fleet with the best equipment in the industry. To keep their vans on the road, they have their own mechanics to ensure the utmost in reliability and safety. The fleet is operated by expert drivers utilizing video monitoring of the horses. The men and women transporting their clients’ horses are "horse people". They are randomly drug and alcohol tested. Brook Ledge is proud to have achieved the Department of Transportation's highest rating.

“First class is what you think of when you think about Brook Ledge,” said Mason Phelps, Jr., the President of the National Horse Show Association. “They are one of the most reliable companies in the business and we are delighted to have Brook Ledge back with us at the Alltech National Horse Show as our Official Ground Transport company.

The Alltech National Horse Show will be held at the beautiful Alltech Indoor Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

This year’s show, designated CSI5*-W, will feature a complete schedule of ‘AA’-rated hunter divisions plus the biggest money Open Jumper division on the fall indoor tour. In addition, the first-class Junior and Amateur Jumper divisions will culminate in the SJHOF Junior/Amateur Championships. The final Sunday is highlighted by the signature event of the National Horse Show, the ASPCA Alfred B. Maclay Finals.

Founded in 1883 at the original Madison Square Garden, the National Horse Show is America’s oldest indoor horse show, firmly established as a major fixture on the national and international sports and social event calendars. The National Horse Show Association’s primary activity is the annual production of the National Horse Show and all ancillary events.
