Show By Appointment Returns to Georgia for Weekend of Reined Cow Horse Competition

Written by: Mary Adelaide Brakenridge
Client: Horse Show By Appointment
Release Date: 2013-06-20

Unadilla, GA – June 20, 2013 - Show By Appointment is returning to the Southeastern Arena in Unadilla, GA, on June 29-30 for another action-packed weekend of reined cow horse competition. The first part of the Georgia series was held May 18-19, and now competitors and spectators alike have another chance to take part or just come out and watch.

Show By Appointment (SBA) allows competitors to schedule their own ride times, so those traveling from out of state can book a time now that allows for an easy commute. SBA’s format supports its mission to make reined cow horse competition “Fun, Fair and Affordable.”

Competitors at the May shows in Unadilla praised the venue. John Jacob, winner of Open Bridle classes on both days, said the cattle and footing at the Southeastern Arena were highlights for him. “The ground’s really good there,” he said. “They put a lot of work into it and it made a difference. The cattle were as good as I ever worked – I really liked the cattle. It was a good show, and everything ran smoothly.”

Josh Veal, who picked up wins in the Open Hackamore division, traveled from his base in South Carolina to compete in Unadilla. “I’ve always loved Unadilla,” he said. “Nice stalls, easy parking, easy access, easy to get to. And there's a nice restaurant on the grounds.”

Kristin Cosentino, who is involved with the SBA show management, said she enjoys being a part of SBA because of the one-of-a-kind show environment it offers. “It’s by far the friendliest and the most cheerful environment,” she said. “You’re not going to have any more fun than you have at our shows. We have music, free food – it’s a blast. Anyone that comes is going to have fun. And the sportsmanship is really good, which means a lot to us.”

Spectators should mark their calendars for the “Down the Hairy Fence” run, held at the Southeastern Arena on June 30 from 1-3 p.m. The fence-run-only format encourages professional riders to let out all the stops and push themselves and their horses to perform their best as they show off their skills down the fence.

“You get to go show your horse – let them show at a little bit of a higher level,” said John Jacob, a Down the Hairy Fence run competitor. “It’s fun doing that with the other professionals because they push it a little more than they do at a regular show.”

The show is quickly approaching, so contact Debbie Hall at or 321-863-0456 to schedule appointments that allow you to ride at the most convenient time. Entry forms can be found at, and class lists are available at

About Show By Appointment

Show By Appointment’s fresh approach to reined cow horse competition has been an unprecedented success in its first season. SBA aims to make showing “Fun, Fair, and Affordable” for competitors.  To accommodate those traveling long distances to show and help busy riders fit showing in at their convenience, SBA allows riders to reserve their own ride times in advance. This cuts down on usual travel expenses such as stall rentals and hotels and encourages competitors to make the trip and join in the fun.

Each SBA series includes four shows. Riders who compete at three out of the four shows earn a place in the Championship Finals, slated for October 10-13, 2013, at Triple J Ranch in Sarasota, FL. The Finals offer over $100,000 in cash and prizes. Competitors may also qualify for the Finals in absentia by simply sending in entries and payment to each of the four shows. This system is designed to allow riders a chance to compete in the Championship Finals without spending the season chasing points and incurring excessive competition expenses.
