A Cherry from New York for Lexington

Written by: Christian Palmer
Client: National Horse Show
Release Date: 2013-06-27

Lexington, KY - June 27, 2013 - In 1883, a group of influential sportsmen founded The National Horse Show. The event was held at the original Madison Square Garden. The show moved to Lexington in 2011 and Alltech has been the title sponsor since.

“Having ‘Alltech The National Horse Show’ in Lexington is like stealing the cherry from ‘The City’’ and putting it atop an Ice Cream Sunday for the Horse Capital of the World to enjoy,”  said Mark Brown, with Brook Ledge Horse Transportation’s Lexington Operations. Having the Alltech National Horse Show here is, well- it’s the place to be, in the Horse Capital of the World. Its economic contribution to the vitality of our community is appreciated, and the event cements our position as the horse capital. I could have never imagined that the Kentucky Horse Park would become the engine of such economic activity to our community. I grew up on Castleton Farm on Iron Works Pike. This event symbolizes the best indoor horse show jumping and we’re delighted to lend our corporate support to this event.”

Brook Ledge employs over 150 people nation-wide, with Lexington, KY playing a huge part in what they do—transporting horses. Brook Ledge is committed to the local community.

“We buy local- from fuel, to feed, hay and straw, and lot’s of tires, parts and supplies to keep our trucks and people moving forward- we understand the importance of supporting our local economy,”said Brown.

In 1954 Brook Ledge began operations in Kentucky. In 1986 they opened their Lexington farm. Today, nearly $4 million is added to their bottom line from their Lexington operations. For 60 years, Brook Ledge has been an integral component of the horse industry in Lexington.

“We want the riders, trainers and owners to feel the spirit of camaraderie- it’s a team effort to keep our industry going,” said Andrea Gotwals-Boone from the Brook Ledge home office in Oley, PA.  “We rely on their business and we are delighted to support show jumping.  We want to see North American show jumping grow and our support is a stepping-stone to accomplish that.  It makes sense that we chose the Alltech National Horse Show to lend our corporate support.”

“This event represents the nations’ crown jewel of in-door horse show jumping and we’re fortunate to have it call Lexington its new home,” Brown said. “It brings over 560 horses and 350 riders from nine countries and three continents to Lexington. It is important for us to give back to the industry, and this event has helped us thrive. We are very proud to count multi-generations among our ranks of professional horse people transporting horses. You don’t have to be a grand prix jumper to enjoy the experience of riding in one of our customized trailers!”

Brook Ledge is the “Official Ground Transport of the 2013 Alltech National Horse Show.” For more information about shipping your horse with Brook Ledge Horse Transportation, please contact Brook Ledge Lexington, KY at 859.255.2706, or 800.331.0142, or the home office at 800.523.8143.
