Lamplight Equestrian Center Joins the Phelps Media Group Client List

Wellington, FL- July 1, 2013- Lamplight Equestrian Center announced that they have joined Phelps Media Group’s client roster. Located in the quaint and horse friendly town of Wayne, IL outside of Chicago, Lamplight Equestrian Center has a rich history and a bright future.

Lamplight stands on the part of the property that was once Oaklawn Farm, the home of Mark W. Dunham. In 1865, Dunham began breeding and selling prize Percheron horses which he originally imported from France. During the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair, a train brought guests from Chicago to Wayne to see the Dunhams’ Percheron horses.

“We are very pleased to have Lamplight on board,” said Mason Phelps, President of Phelps Media Group. “We plan to do our best to promote this beautiful and historic facility and see them grow and prosper.”

For more than 50 years, Lamplight Equestrian Center has been a well-known competition destination. In the 1970s, Lamplight became primarily a boarding facility that also held competitions. The facility was said to house as many as 70 horses.

In 1990, it was purchased by a group of new owners who transformed it into the world-class competition facility it is today. Over the years, the owners added multiple arenas and an extensive landscaping plan, including beautiful perennial gardens and hundreds of trees. Two original Dunham family 19th-century barns were converted into the food service pavilion and show offices. In addition, permanent judges’ booths and new covered seating areas for spectators were constructed.

In 2013, Nina Koloseike, a local amateur hunter jumper rider and Percheron owner, purchased Lamplight Equestrian Center with the goal of taking the facility to the next level. Immediately, $1 million in improvements were made, including improving drainage and upgrading many of the existing arenas with European GGT footing.

“I am excited to make Lamplight the best it can be,” said Koloseike. “Currently we are a work in progress. I look forward to getting the word out about all the great things we’re doing to make Lamplight even better.”

Lamplight has permanent stabling for 350 horses and permanent base installations for nine stabling tents, giving it a total capacity of 1200 stalls, all with water, cement wash racks and electricity.

The facility has hosted the American Eventing Championships, the Markel/USEF National Young Horse Dressage Championships and the U.S. Para-Equestrian National Championships.

Lamplight Equestrian Center hosted a very successful Showplace Productions’ Spring Spectacular I and II from June 4-June 16.

“I’d like to congratulate and thank Pat Boyle for making the Spring Spectacular shows so successful,” said Koloseike.

Upcoming Lamplight Equestrian Center Events include:
