MEDIA ALERT! Kentucky Summer Series Kick Off Wednesday, July 24, 2012

Lexington, KY – July 23, 2013 – The 2013 Kentucky Summer Series will begin this Wednesday and run for two weeks, followed by the USEF Pony Finals, the Bluegrass Festival Classic, and the KHJA Horse Show. The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will be held July 24-28, 2013, and will be followed by the Kentucky Summer Classic, scheduled for July 30-August 4, 2013.

The Kentucky Summer Horse Show will include the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby sponsored by Hallway Feeds one of the seven event Hallway Feeds series, which will provide $15,000 in Leading Rider Bonuses.  Jumper highlights for the Kentucky Summer Horse Show include the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic, and the $50,000 Rood & Riddle Kentucky Grand Prix. The Hagyard Lexington Classic is part of a seven-class series, culminating with a $50,000 Leading Riding Award.

The series will continue with the Kentucky Summer Classic. The $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic will be held on Thursday, August 1, and then on Saturday, August 3, riders will compete under the lights in the Rolex Stadium in the $50,000 Kentucky Summer Grand Prix, sponsored by Audi of Lexington. The $5,000 Hallway Feeds USHJA National Hunter Derby will also return on Saturday, August 3.

The USEF Pony Finals will be held at the Kentucky Horse Park August 6 - 11. More than 600 ponies who have qualified throughout the preceding year will compete for awards in Green and Regular pony sections, pony jumpers and the Pony Medal Finals.

The third event during the Kentucky Summer Series is the Bluegrass Festival Horse Show. The $100,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby Finals will return to Rolex Stadium, August 16-17. Jumper highlights include the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic and the $40,000 Bluegrass Festival Grand Prix.

Wrapping up the summer season will be the KHJA Horse Show held August 21- 25, 2013. The $10,000 Hagyard Welcome Stake will run Friday, August 23, and will be followed on Sunday, August 25, by the $30,000 KHJA Grand Prix.
