Fieldstone Summer Showcase Announces $25,000 Antarès Sellier France Grand Prix

Written by: Kendall Bierer
Client: Morrissey Management Group (MMG) http://www.stadiumjumping.com/sj/index.cfm
Release Date: 2013-07-27

Halifax, MA – July 27, 2013 – For Amy and Thomas Hern the Fieldstone Summer Showcase is more than a horse show, it is home. The Fieldstone Show Park is literally in the back yard of their training facility on the premise, and for the 2013-year the Herns will represent Antarès Sellier France at the Fieldstone Summer Showcase I and II. Going above and beyond, the well-known saddlery will also sponsor the $25,000 Antarès Grand Prix on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

Antarès Sellier France was started in March of 2000, when five equestrian professionals worked in tandem: Xavier Lenrouilly, Thierry Guiberteau, Eric Guiberteau, Evelyne Cummings, and Dominique Bauer. They chose to share their ideas and expertise to create products that more closely resembled their personal philosophies. Their objective was to create a unique saddle for each rider, made specifically to their measurements, all in the quest to bring the art of saddlery forward into a new generation that would serve the comfort and the security of both horse and rider. Their success is not by chance, but rather due to the work of the whole Antarès team. The originality, vivacity and the creativity of the men and women who make up Antarès, have changed the standards of saddle making and evolved the profession to what it is today.

“My husband has been sponsored by Antares for quite a while. We have a long history with them, and I am a big believer in the brand and what the whole company has to offer,” Amy Hern explained. “The opportunity presented itself after our business settled her at the Fieldstone Show Park, and it isn’t hard to sell a product that is this beautiful, and for a company that is this committed to the welfare of the horses and riders.”

Antarès is the official saddle of the Fieldstone Show Park, as well as the Fieldstone Summer Showcase. Although Thomas Hern trains, shows and designs courses during the extensive two weeks of the Fieldstone Summer Showcase, he also is an ambassador for Antarès. Prior to the Herns taking on the role as ambassadors for Antarès, there was very little representation in the New England area.

“We have a huge market in the New York and New Jersey area, but since there was no representative dedicated to the New England for a long period of time, I absolutely think it opened people’s eyes to everything Antarès has to offer,” Thomas described.  “People know that I am committed, I am a horse person, I know the industry and know who is out there. Not only am I committed to helping their horses and riders, but the company as a whole is.”

It was CEO of the Fieldstone Show Park who approached the Herns originally about becoming the official saddle of the Fieldstone Show Park, although it was a natural fit for the company, the 2012-year was not the right time to debut in the New England area. “Antarès believes in doing everything 100 percent, so this year we have dedicated ourselves to it wholeheartedly. It was a great way to reach a market that hasn’t been exposed to Antarès before. We are also proud to be the Grand Prix sponsor,” Amy said.

Mr. Eric Hasbrouck of North Salem, NY, will design the course for the $25,000  Antarès Grand Prix. Eric is featured in Jeff Papows’ award winning book Unbridled Passion.  Hasbrouck has competed successfully on the nation's big-league show jumping circuit for nearly three decades, winning major Grand Prix events in the United States, as well as representing the U.S. internationally including the Show Jumping World Championships at the 1998 World Equestrian Games in Rome. Hasbrouck has served on the Selection Committee for the U. S. Olympic Show Jumping Team, and in 2008 he served as Chef d'Equipe for the Super League Team in Dublin, Ireland and Lumen, Belgium.  He is also a member of the Organizing Committee for the Syracuse International Sport Horse Tournament.

Amy continued, “It is a great place. There is a lot of activity and a lot goes on here. It is so great to walk out of the door and have so much going on, it is a unique opportunity to have the Fieldstone Show Park in our own backyard. It is a fantastic and beautiful show grounds with open space, which is unique, and there is a nice variety of things to do outside of the horse show which is a huge benefit. It is well done; a unique experience and a they really make it special for the exhibitors.”

Twenty-seven years ago, the Fieldstone Show Park was built to accommodate one-day horse shows. As time went by, the demand and focus of Fieldstone shifted to multi-day events. During the fall and winter of 2012, the Fieldstone Show Park started an ambitious two-year reconstruction project. These improvements include The Vendor Village, raised VIP Pavilion and Trainer/Rider Pavilion, a 16-foot high stone lighthouse created for videotaping the Grand Prix Field, as well as stabling, GGT Sand All Weather Felt Footing, infrastructure and competition coordination improvement.
