Written by: Kendall Bierer
Client: The Ridge Farm
Release Date: 2013-10-07

Asbury, NJ – October 7, 2013 – The Asbury Classic is right around the corner, and with October 10 only five days away, now is the time to make all final stall reservations. The second part of the Asbury Classic will run from October 10-13, 2013 at the Ridge at Riverview in Asbury, NJ. Due to the generous sponsorships of B.W. Furlong and Associates and Hermitage Farm, the stakes have been raised. The prize money has been increased for the $25,000 Ridge at Riverview Grand Prix sponsored by Hermitage Farm, the $7,500 Welcome Stake, the $2,500 Futures Grand Prix and the $2,500 Asbury Jumper Derby all sponsored by B.W. Furlong and Associates.

The Asbury Classic has been continually well received by exhibitors, and now with the newly added incentives, available stalls are filling up rapidly. View the updated prize list here, and get entries in today using the entry blanks available here.

The Ridge at Riverview is run by Olympian Nona Garson, and her partner, George D’Ambrosio, and is a jewel to the city of Asbury with rolling open fields, a large grand prix ring, hunter ring and a derby field with natural obstacles reminiscent of the traditional hunt field. The grounds have both grass and sand mixed with all-weather footing. With top quality facilities and management, the Asbury Classic consistently attracts some of the sports leading riders.

The $25,000 Ridge at Riverview Grand Prix, sponsored by Hermitage Farm, will be a highlight event of the show and is set to take place on Sunday, October 13.  The Asbury Classic also offers the $7,500 B.W. Furlong and Associates Open Jumper Welcome Class and the $2,000 Futures Grand Prix, held on the beautiful derby field and catering to the less experienced horse and rider combinations.

The ever popular $2,000 Asbury Hunter Derby is sure to be a thrilling event as the hunter riders gather at the open grass field to showcase their horses in front of the judges’ scrutinizing eyes. Last year is was BJ Ehrhardt and Woodrow who rode to the top of the leader board with beautiful flowing rounds, utilizing the open grass field to the best of their ability, catching the judges’ eyes with their traditional hunter athleticism and style. The competition is sure to be fierce as the Ehrhardt is sure to return to defend her championship title, while other derby riders attempt to take over the lead.

The Itty Bitty Mini Prix will return to the Asbury Classic for its second year. Last year, it was a huge hit with a large field of entrants. Melissa Lacamera and Silver Lining blew spectators away with their speedy round. The managers of the Asbury Classic are pleased to have it return to the show, and each classic winner will receive embroidered scrims as a personalized present. The Ridge has also added another very exciting classic to this year’s lineup of events, The Short / Long Stirrup Hunter Classic – open to short stirrup and beginner riders for their chance to compete for a beautiful cooler and big ribbons!

From Mini Stirrup to the Grand Prix, a good time is sure to be had by all.

In addition to top competition and prize money, the Asbury Classic is known for it’s fabulous hospitality. Each morning, the hospitality tent will allow exhibitors to take in a wonderful view of the show grounds while enjoy a hot cup of coffee and a selection of danishes. Throughout the day, the hospitality tent will be stocked with snacks, bottled water and replenishing amenities for all exhibitors. By the afternoon, exhibitors will be able wind down and relax as they enjoy a delicious glass of pinot noir or crisp chardonnay.

Time is drawing to a close to be a part of this year’s Asbury Classic and compete for the added prize money. Please fax all entries to 908-479-6158 or mail to:
