Phelps Media Group Welcomes New Client Leatherdale Farms

Written by: Sue Weakley
Client: Leatherdale Farms
Release Date: 2013-10-21

Wellington, FL-October 21, 2013 – Phelps Media Group International is proud to announce the addition on Leatherdale Farms to its roster of clients. Leatherdale Farms, breeders of fine Hanoverian, Oldenburg and Trakehner horses, is owned by Louise and Doug Leatherdale. Leatherdale Farms' home base is located in the gently rolling hills of Minnesota, 30 minutes outside Minneapolis. The Leatherdales also have farms in San Diego, CA, and Dorum, Germany.

Leatherdale Farms specializes in the shipment of frozen semen throughout the United States and Canada. Proven stallions from carefully selected bloodlines representing the best of the oldest and the newest of German and American bloodlines is their claim to fame.

In fact, one of Leatherdale Farms’ premier Trakenher stallions, Herzensdieb (Tambour x Herzensfreude  x Tivano), was honored by the Trakehner Verband with the Elite title in a ceremony at the Annual Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Germany. The 10-year-old stallion started his stellar career by being named Champion of the Trakhner licensing in 2005. As a 3-year-old, he earned the German Champion Qualified status. Herzensdieb completed his 70-day testing with a 133.56 in dressage and a 111.90 in jumping with an overall score of 127.78. He scored a 9.0 for his trot, a 9.5 for his canter and an 8.5 for his walk.

The Leatherdales couldn’t be more pleased with the honor. “We have always expected great things from Herzensdieb, and our hopes for this premier stallion are coming true,” Doug Leatherdale said. “He possesses the aura of a champion and we are thrilled with the Elite title bestowed on him from the Trakehner Verband.”

Another Leatherdale Farms stallion, 11-year-old Hanoverian Damsey  (Dressage Royal x Ria Grande x Ritual), was recently awarded the FRH title from the Hanoverian Verband, Damesy’s bloodlines include the Who’s Who of Hanoverian pedigrees – Donnerhall, Rubenstein, Ritual/Ramiro and Grande.

A breeder and owner with two such honored Elite stallions by two different breed associations is a rare accomplishment. Leatherdale Farms horses are making a significant impact on the quality of sport horses worldwide.

Leatherdale Farms horses have also been active in the dressage arena. Top riders Sue Blinks and Diane Creech have successfully competed Leatherdale Farms horses Robin Hood, Wiona and Devon L at Grand Prix levels. Expect to read more about their success in the dressage arena during the coming winter show season in Wellington, FL.

“We are pleased to represent Leatherdale Farms in both their competitive and breeding capacities,” said Mason Phelps Jr., president of Phelps Media Group. “Their reputation for excellence is a great fit with our company and we welcome them aboard.”
