Adrienne Lyle Trusts in Her Trilogy Saddles

Written by: Phelps Media Group, Inc.
Client: Polo Gear USA
Release Date: 2014-02-14

Wellington, FL - February 14, 2014 - Olympic dressage athlete Adrienne Lyle is hard at work in the saddle this Wellington season. Whether riding to victory in major competitions aboard seasoned Grand Prix gelding Wizard or bringing up promising young horses, Lyle is seated in a Trilogy. She has remained a loyal Trilogy rider for years because she believes Trilogy accompanies their expertly crafted saddles with a wealth of knowledge of the sport.

"They have an incredible knowledge base," she exclaimed. "Not only do they know saddle fit, but they know the sport of dressage. You can explain, 'I feel in a half-pass that my saddle is doing this,' and they understand exactly what you're talking about, why it's an issue and how to fix it. They've been a fantastic sponsor of mine for years now."

Debbie Witty, Trilogy owner and creator, approached Lyle years ago when she was a working student for Debbie McDonald.

"Debbie Witty is very good at starting out young and upcoming talent and giving them a shot if she thinks they're someone she believes in," Lyle said. "She approached me about a sponsorship deal. I really enjoyed working with her and we've been together ever since!"

Witty has created an impressive lineup of expertly fitting and feeling dressage saddles for every horse and rider body type, including a saddle she and Debbie McDonald designed together to suit more petite riders. Lyle explained that the variety of saddles serve both her and her clients well.

"They have several different models to fit all different body types," said Lyle. "They have the Debbie McDonald, a petite rider saddle, which has been really beneficial for a lot of my clients who are smaller. They have the Verago and the Amadeo - just different seat depths to choose from so you can get one that is custom fit to you. I ride most of mine in an Amadeo, and a couple in the Verago."

The most important aspect of a Trilogy is its ability to make the line of communication between horse and rider seamless and comfortable. Lyle explained that riding her Olympic partner Wizard in an Amadeo sets them up for success, ensuring unconstrained movement and a comfortable ride.

"I can definitely feel the freedom of movement in his shoulders," she said. "It keeps me balanced and keeps his back happy. For me, it's a medium depth seat. So it gives me security, but still  freedom to feel like I can be soft and comfortably positioned in the saddle."

When Gary Fellers and Jeanette Sassoon, owners of Polo Gear USA, approached Witty with the opportunity to join forces to create a larger, stronger and more diverse saddle division, Witty jumped at the opportunity. Working in tandem with the leading equestrian merchandising and branding company was the perfect integration to reach the next level of client satisfaction with outstanding products and service.

Performance Saddlery, Inc. officially merged under Polo Gear, LLC as of January 1, 2014. Witty is president of the new "Performance Saddlery" division of Polo Gear, which includes the Trilogy, Verhan and PoloGear brands. Operations will be consolidated in the new flagship Polo Gear building in Wellington when it is complete. Witty's national staff of saddle fitters will service Trilogy, Verhan and the "Polo Gear Team Shop" line of custom equestrian apparel, horse and barn products.

Performance Saddlery plans to continually and selectively grow its saddle fitting force throughout the United States and Canada, as well as through the international markets. Equestrians with horse or rider saddle issues are encouraged to call Performance Saddlery at 800-258-0006 or e-mail us at for a consultation.
