One Week Left to Prepare to Travel the World at India Night 2014

Written by: Emily Riden
Client: Salvation Tree http://www.salvationtree.org/
Release Date: 2014-03-06

Wellington, FL – March 6, 2014 – In just one week, the Salvation Tree Foundation is bringing the sights, sounds and tastes of India to Wellington, FL for the first ever India Night. Guests will enjoy authentic Indian musicians, Bollywood dancers, a colorful and lavish atmosphere, a Bollywood DJ, an Indian bazaar and more, all at the International Polo Club Palm Beach (IPC) and all in support of the Salvation Tree Foundation’s Salvation Tree School.

Remaining space is limited for the highly anticipated event, to be held starting at 7 p.m. on March 13, 2014 at the 7th Chukker Restaurant and Veranda at IPC. The remaining tickets can purchased online today at www.indianight.org or by calling (561)254-0406.

All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Salvation Tree Foundation and the Salvation Tree School. The foundation is a recognized non-profit, presently funded entirely through the sales of popular equestrian brands TuffRider, Equine Couture and Henri de Rivel. Through the foundation and the Salvation Tree School, the three brands have been able to provide the children of their employees in India with an entirely free education, including books, supplies, mid-day meals, transportation and uniforms, all unlike anything they could otherwise receive.

Until now, the Salvation Tree School has operated solely on a percentage of sales from TuffRider, Equine Couture and Henri de Rivel and the generosity of the companies owners, Timmy and Laurie Sharma. Now the Sharmas and the Salvation Tree School are looking to further the already incredibly positive impact that they have on the children in India and their families.

By April 2014, Salvation Tree School will have 250 students from pre-K to 6th grade, and additional funding is now necessary to purchase a new school building large enough to accommodate all of the children.

“These were kids that I knew weren’t getting an education. It broke my heart to see them going back to their villages with no hope for their futures,” Laurie Sharma said. “I knew something somehow had to be done…Timmy said to me ‘I know what we’re going to do. We’re going to start a school for those kids.’”

Timmy Sharma added, “A lot of the kids there don’t go to school at all. Many of them are the ones that are there to take care of their young siblings while their parents work. The education is just denied to them completely. So what we started out to do was provide them with a world class education, and it has just continued to grow.”
