Wellington, FL – March 11, 2014 – Mark your calendars today for the Ridge at Wellington’s final 2014 Hunter Derby Day! The Ridge at Wellington gives a new meaning to “TGIF” when their $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby and $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby take center stage at the Ridge at Wellington on Friday, March 21, 2014. Entries are filling fast as the top hunter riders in the nation gather for a battle of the best on the turf. Entries and stabling information must be submitted no later than Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 5 p.m.

The derbies are only a little over a week away, offering the convenience of a standalone derby while maintaining the open in-gate format for which the Wellington Turf Tour has grown popular. On March 21, 2014, the turf at the Ridge at Wellington will transform into a picturesque hunt field, reminiscent of the traditional hunt fields of the past. Shrubbery, flowers and natural obstacles will fill the open field as the $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby kicks off the day in the grass field at 8 a.m., while the $15,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby is set to start at 12:30 p.m.

Rob Carey will design the hunter derby courses at the Ridge of Wellington, testing both horse and rider alike as they take on the obstacles. Dee Thomas, Linda Andrisani, Jimmy Toon and Ron Smith will judge the final derbies for the Ridge at Wellington Hunter Derby Days.
