Chateau Couchebout and Finger Lakes Gaming Join in Support of The Derby at the Genesee Country Village & Museum

Written by: Emily Riden
Client: The Derby at The Genesee Country Village & Museum
Release Date: 2014-03-31

Mumford, NY – March 29, 2014 – The highly anticipated Derby at the Genesee Country Village & Museum (GCV&M) is quickly drawing support from near and far. Joining the list of generous supporters of The Derby are Chateau Couchebout, based in France, and Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack, based in Farmington, NY.

The Derby at the GCV&M, to be held on June 7 – 8, 2014, will offer both a $5,000 USHJA National Hunter Derby and a $35,000 USHJA International Hunter Derby, presenting an exciting opportunity for competitors and sponsors alike.

The Derby is also thrilled to have named the Rochester Women’s Giving Circle as the charitable beneficiary of the inaugural event, with support from sponsors going back to the organization which funds programs for women and girls around the Rochester, NY area.

“We are proud to sponsor this event and help raise funds for a great Rochester area charity, the Rochester Women’s Giving Circle,” said Steve Martin, Senior Director of Marketing for Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack.

Located just a short drive away from the Genesee Country Village & Museum, sponsorship and support of The Derby was a natural fit for Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack.

“Given Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack’s long history within thoroughbred racing, aligning ourselves with such a unique event in the area that highlights equine athletes is exciting,” Martin explained. “In fact, many Thoroughbred race horses go on to second careers after their days on the track in various roles, including hunters and jumpers, so our association is even more natural.”

Sponsorship of The Derby at GCV&M also presented a natural fit and excellent opportunity for Chateau Couchebout, a boutique winery located in the southwest corner of France and owned by Bruno and Cheryl Falkenstine.

“Brian Brown [The Derby producer and manager] is a good friend, and we were chatting about The Derby,” Falkenstine said. “Having done business with Brian in the past, I wholeheartedly trust anything that he is behind, and I realized what a great opportunity it would be to help our brand and our wine.”

“We’ll be providing wine for the Saturday night VIP reception,” continued Falkenstine. “Our brand is relatively new so it’s an excellent venue to get the word out about the wine.”
