John Blackburn Author of Healthy Stables by Design to Sign Books at Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show

Wellington, FL – June 9, 2014 – John Blackburn, founder of award-winning Blackburn Architects will be on hand at Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show on Thursday, June 19 from 4-6 p.m. at the Wine and Cheese Meet and Greet in the Hospitality tent immediately following the $7,500 Poland Spring Welcome Jumper Stake, Presented by Nestle Waters North America.

Blackburn will autograph copies of his book, Healthy Stables by Design and discuss his approach to equestrian architecture that places the safety and well-being of the horse as top priority. Blackburn’s eco-friendly approach to equestrian architecture places includes ventilation, strategic natural light and passive solar heating and cooling into significant horse barn designs ranging from exquisite to functional. Blackburn has designed stables across the country and is currently at work on 19 projects in 14 states for varying equestrian disciplines. Those interested in green architecture are encouraged to attend. All author proceeds from Healthy Stables by Design will go to the Equus Foundation.

About Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show

The Fairfield County Hunt Club June Benefit Horse Show to benefit the EQUUS Foundation will be held on Tuesday-Saturday, June 17-21, 2014 and is open to the public free of charge. The five-day show offers over 250 classes in which national and local equestrians of all ages compete. The show’s Paddock Boutique provides top-notch shopping.

The June Show is a Heritage Competition, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a horse show by the United States Equestrian Federation (USEF), a distinction reserved for horse shows not only dedicated to technical excellence but also philanthropy and community involvement.

The show is held on the grounds of the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Connecticut, a landmark in Fairfield County since its establishment in 1923, that welcomes members of the community with equestrian interests to join its riding program.

The Fairfield County Hunt Club Show benefits the Equus Foundation, an organization has awarded nearly $2.5 million in grants to equine charities that are reducing the unwanted horse population, retraining horses for multiple careers, and making equine therapy available to more people. Over 800 organizations participate on the Foundation's Equine Welfare Network.
