North Star Ventures Returns as Sponsor of the Rider’s Lounge at The National Horse Show

Written by: AnLi Kelly-Durham
Client: National Horse Show
Release Date: 2014-07-10

Lexington, KY – July 10, 2014 – The historic National Horse Show, scheduled for the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, October 28 through November 2, 2014, is proud to announce North Star Ventures as the returning sponsor of this year’s Rider’s Lounge. The National Horse Show is known for its hospitality, and the return of the Rider’s Lounge will allow riders and trainers to relax and refresh amid the hustle and bustle of the competition.

Relocated for riders’ convenience, the new location in the rotunda will allow competitors to go between the viewing area, the lounge, and the schooling ring without having to walk through the congested in-gate area.

Joan Jacobs, the woman behind it all, explained, “We are going to change it up from last year. The Rider’s Lounge is so popular that it got a little congested and the space got a little small. Now, we are going to try and create the riders lounge up in the rotunda where the Taylor Harris Club was the first year. That way, the riders can be in the viewing area and walk straight to the riders lounge. The space will overlook the ring so that they can watch the action live without a monitor. They can go to the schooling area from there.”

The National Horse Show is the last of the four prestigious U.S. Indoor national finals. Riders and trainers work hard all year to qualify, and Jacobs wants to ensure the entire experience is one to remember.

Jacobs commented, “Because it is a National Final, it’s great to have something extra special. When we go to Europe the grooms have a place to go and eat, and the riders have a lounge to eat and converse and have their own space. To have something like this, it does make it more special.”

The National Horse Show has a special place in Jacobs’ heart because of its rich history and tradition, much of which her family has played a part in creating.
“It’s not easy keeping horse shows going, especially the Indoor shows,” explained Jacobs. “To keep the NHS and all of it’s history and grandeur, trophies, nostalgia, Mason has done a wonderful job upholding that tradition. We love putting the books out so people can see pictures from the old horse shows and reminisce. It’s a moment to come together, riders from Europe, the West Coast, the East Coast, the top Juniors… it’s a moment to remembers these are my friends, this is my family, these are my competitors.”

The fifth edition of the National Horse Show in Lexington, Kentucky, is set for October 28 – November 2, 2014. The show will once again be held at the Kentucky Horse Park.
