Emily D’Alessandro and Tarantel’la Take Top Call for Norfield Stables LLC

Norfield Stables LLC Heads to Horse Shows by the Bay Following Successful Lake Placid

Lake Placid, NY – July 11, 2014 – Balancing a full-time internship in New York City with riding has left Emily D’Alessandro with limited showing opportunities this summer. But thanks in part to the strong team at Norfield Stables LLC that D’Alessandro has behind her, when she does get to the show ring, she does not go home empty handed.

She left the Lake Placid I Love New York Horse Show this past weekend with top ribbons, including a blue in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic and the Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic championship award aboard her mare Tarantel’la.

“I hadn’t been to a horse show in awhile. My horse was amazing,” D’Alessandro said. “She came out and was so good. She’s always really fit. Chris [Cawley] works on the flat a lot with her at home.”

Cawley, along with Molly Ashe Cawley and Timmy Kees, manage Norfield Stables LLC, one of the nation’s leading hunter, jumper and equitation operations.

D’Alessandro started riding with Kees nearly 7 years ago, and now trains with Molly, Chris and Kees out of Norfield Stables’ RedGate Farm location in Newtown, CT, throughout most of the year and out of their Ocean Ridge Farm location in Wellington, FL, during the winter.

“Riding with Norfield is amazing,” D’Alessandro said. “Molly’s incredible. It’s so nice to be able to watch someone compete on your horse and then go out and try to do what she did. She’s helped me so much with Tarantel’la.”

D’Alessandro and Tarantel’la kicked things off at the I Love New York Horse Show with a second place finish in the Low Amateur-Owner Jumper Classic.

“Friday she was awesome. I was so happy with her,” D’Alessandro said. “She was winning the class for most of it, then the second to last person beat us. Regardless of how the classic went, I knew I was going to be happy with just showing up to Lake Placid and getting second in that class.”

But D’Alessandro’s success would continue well into the next day when she bested a competitive field of 45 riders to win the Low Amateur-Owner Classic.

“[Tarantel’la] was fantastic. She was so fast in the jump-off,” D’Alessandro said. “Even though I was a little wide to one oxer at the end, she left out and got eight strides in the last line which wasn’t really the plan until I did the first round and walked up the nine. So that was probably where I got my time.  She was amazing.”

D’Alessandro was not the only Norfield Stables rider who returned home with top ribbons following an extremely successful two weeks at Lake Placid. In fact, barn mates Monica Carrera and Olivia Jack also gave D’Alessandro a run for her money in the Low Amateur-Owner Classic.

Throughout the two weeks of horse shows, Norfield earned top honors from leadline to the Grand Prix of Lake Placid.

Connor Cawley carried on the family riding genes in the leadline division, winning a first place ribbon (and the judges’ hearts). Sister Taylor Cawley also had a great week, earning blue and a tricolor ribbon in the Walk-Trot division.

Olivia Jack’s Carissimo turned in beautiful clear round after clear round with Molly in the saddle, earning them ribbons in the $75,000 Grand Prix of Lake Placid and the Lake Placid Welcome Prix in which they took fourth against the top field of competitors.

In the equitation divisions, Olivia Hupy earned the first place award in the Ariat National Adult Medal aboard Philosopher, and Ali Tritschler earned multiple top finishes aboard Helio Rouge. Among Tritschler’s honors was a second place finish in the Pessoa Hunt Seat Medal during the Lake Placid Horse Show and another second place finish in the same class the following week during the I Love New York Horse Show.

Tritschler also took numerous top calls in the Large Pony Hunters riding For the Best and Enjoy the Laughter for owner Dr. Betsee Parker. Also in the pony divisions, Annika Lacroze earned back-to-back second place awards over fences and a first place under saddle with her own Ontario.

With a successful Lake Placid circuit in the books, the Norfield Stables LLC team now heads to Traverse City, Michigan, for the third week of Horse Shows by the Bay.
