Last Chance: The Ridge at Riverview Grants Post-Entry Asbury Classic Amnesty

Asbury, NJ – October 3, 2014 – Did you forget to enter The Ridge at Riverview’s 2014 Asbury Classic? The Classic, one of the most exquisite shows in the nation, and it will return this October 2014 with more classes, prize money and of course, its superb hospitality. It’s not to late to sign up for the Asbury Classic. The Ridge at Riverview has granted entry Amnesty until the end of the business day, Monday, October 6, 2014. Week I will take place October 9-12, and Week II will commence October 16-19 at the Ridge at Riverview in Asbury, NJ.

Entries closed September 29, 2014, but amnesty has been granted to those who still would like a spot. There will be no post-entry fees until Monday, October 6th. Entries can be faxed to (908) 479-6158.

The Ridge at Riverview is operated by Olympian Nona Garson, and is a standout venue in the Asbury area with its picturesque fields, large Grand Prix Ring, Hunter Ring and Derby Field. The grounds have both turf and all-weather footing. Recently, The Ridge added a 150 x 300 foot all-weather sand arena as an additional show ring, appropriately named the “Asbury Ring.”

The Asbury Classic Week I and Week II offers over $60,000 in prize money for jumper competitors, with the highlight of the jumper agenda being the $15,000 Ridge at Riverview Grand Prix during Week I. The Asbury Classic show will also feature the $2,000 Jersey Jumper Derby, the $2,000 Futures Grand Prix and the $3,000 Open Jumper Welcome Class. There will also be a wide array of hunter/jumper classes for children, adults, juniors, amateurs and future jumpers throughout the two-week series.

The hunter derby classes will feature some of the most competitive horse and rider combinations in the nation that will vie for the top honors in the $2,000 Asbury Hunter Derby. Children will also have an opportunity to compete in the $500 Children’s Hunter Pony Derby, as well as add an additional level of competition with the $500 Children’s/Adult Hunter Derby. Hunter riders will also have the opportunity to compete in the Marshall & Sterling Bit O’ Straw Hunter Classic, open to all junior and amateur riders.

The equitation classes at the Asbury Classic offer a variety of options for riders of all experience and age levels. These classes include the NJHSA Mini Stirrup, M&S Children’s Pony Medal/NJPHA Pony Equitation, M&S Children’s Horse Medal/NJPHA Mini Medal, the NJPHA/NJHSA Children’s Equitation 3’ Over Fences, the NJHSA Junior Bronze Medal, NJHS Mini Maclay, and the M&S Farnam Adult Medal/NJPHA Adult Medal.

In addition to the hunter/jumper classes, the Asbury Classic creates a unique show every year with special awards. The presentations include the Hunter Derby Groom’s Award, Jumper Groom’s Award, Jumper Style Award, Best Child Rider on a Horse/Pony and Best Adult Rider. The Asbury Classic will also award the Lisa Bermack Perpetual Trophy to the winner of the Child/Adult Jumper Classic, while the Rebecca L’Heureux Perpetual Memorial Trophy will be presented to the winner of the Asbury Classic Grand Prix. The last of the awards is the Gary Zook Perpetual Memorial Trophy, which will be awarded to the winner of the Asbury Classic Hunter Derby.

The Asbury Classic is also thrilled to have named The Wounded Warriors as the show’s Official Charity Partner.

FROM the East heading WEST on ROUTE 78: Route 78 WEST to EXIT 11, Route 173/West Portal. Off the exit, follow signs to stay on ROUTE 173 WEST; Continue for 2 miles and exit off Route 173 bearing right onto BRUNSWICK AVE. Make the right onto ASBURY/W PORTAL ROAD. Go 1/4 mile, make the first left onto VALLEY STATION ROAD. Cross over the green bridge (Valley Station turns into WOLVERTON Road). The entrance to The Ridge Farm @ Riverview is the first GRAVEL driveway on the left.

FROM the West (PA) heading EAST on ROUTE 78 Route 78 EAST to EXIT 6. This is the exit for the. Weigh Station. Go to the end of the ramp and make a LEFT onto BLOOMSBURY ROAD. Continue about 2 ½ miles (road becomes Asbury Bloomsbury Road) and make a RIGHT onto WOLVERTON ROAD. The Ridge Farm @ Riverview is the first GRAVEL driveway on the right.
