Bromont, July 20, 2012 – Canadian riders dominated the CSI3* 1m50 event of the International Bromont today, July 20, at the Bromont Olympic Equestrian Park, winning the first 6 places of this FEI event.

A battle to the end
\"It was an exciting event\", indicates show manager Roger Deslauriers,\"with seven horse/rider teams in the jump off, out of 28 participants, we had to wonder who would win it\". The first out on the course, Vanessa Paschini, opts for prudence and finishes with a clear round in 41.40 seconds. The second rider, Jordan MacPherson, thumps her with a time of 38.61 seconds, in a clear round. The following three riders, Mac Cone, Candice King and Lauren Hunkin will vie unsuccessfully to take first place. St-Lazare rider Angela Covert-Lawrence goes out with an excellent start on Utan; steady through the fences she jumps over the last obstacle in a time of 38.88 seconds taking second place outright. Last rider on the course, 17 year-old Ben Asselin flies out on Lolita, and with a full-speed course takes over second place, moving Angela Covert to third.

The Top 8 of the FEI event today was completed with Vanessa Paschini and Neolisto Van Het Mierenhof (4th place), Christian Sorensen and Bobby (5th place), Lauren Hunkin and Larry 0146 (6th place) , Candice King et Campbell VDL (7th place), the lone American, and Mac Cone and Amor van de Rostal (8th place).

Following the FEI 1m50, riders in the Canadian Equestrian Team Medal (CET) took over in the ring with an event in two phases, both over fence and on the flat. Participants, all 21 years-old or under, vie to qualify to the CET Medal final held at the Toronto Royal Winter Fair. Young West Bolton rider, Christina MacDougall, took second place.

International Bromont promises an unforgettable 2012 edition with five FEI events, the return of the Royal Canin Challenge on both Sundays, as well as its Speed Derby on Saturday July 21st. For more details on the programme, visit our Internet site at www.internationalbromont.org.
